RE: Which furnace to replace old duo therm?

Do the Atwood's require buying a separate access door? Or is that only if you need to access it from the exterior of the RV, is the suburban the same case? Any input on suburban furnaces. How about btu. The original is a 30K. I found a good price on a 15k/22k, 20k and 25k units, would 20k be enough for a 29' trailer with no slides?
It would probably work as long as your minimum temp was above 20 or 25 degrees.

RE: thinking about upgrading -will this work?

We are looking at a Heartland Sundance 3300RBL
GVWR 13,900
Dry weight 9850
Hitch weight 1910
Pulling with a 2003 3500 cummins turbo deisel quad cab short bed
with Bully dog,
Is the hitch weight going to be a problem? I don't think power will be an issue but am concerned about the weight. Thanks for all the help.
I would add airbags. It will ride much better with 2300# on the pin.

Tim, my Norton says that site is unsafe????? Don't know why, tried to duplicate warning but couldn't. Maybe one of the many links on that page set it off.
Been using it as a reference site for months with no problems.:B

RE: Which Ride-Rite airbags with my truck and hitch combo???

I'm sure someone on here can help me out. Which part number of the Firestone Ride Rite airbags do I need? I have a Reese 16k slider 5th wheel hitch in the bed. Truck is a 2003 Ford F350 SRW, Crew Cab, Shortbed, 7.3 Diesel, 4wd. I can't tell between part number 2071, 2330, or something completely different. I would like to get the ones that mount outside of the frame rails for the added stability, if thats possible considering I have the hitch in the bed.
This will be the next thing I add to the truck as soon as I can get the boss's approval !
Thanks.
The real expert is Mac's Springs.com in Calif, also has good prices.

RE: ERS while double towing

Many (or most) tow services buy a permit on a yearly basis to tow overlength vehicles. With this permit they can tow your doubles.

RE: Axle alignment near Huntsville, AL?

I have been looking all over and I can't seem to find someone that can properly align the axles on my 3 axle 5th wheel.
Does anyone know where I can find a shop that can do it right, near Huntsville, AL?
Any shop that does truck wheel alignment should be able to do it.

RE: Disappointed in Interstate Group 24"s

Back in 2005, I installed an Intelli converter with the charge wizard in my 2004 class C. The converter has done a great job in keeping my batteries fully charged. We go out once a month for 3-4 days and a long trip in the fall of 10+ days. My disappointment is in the longevity of the Interstate batteries. They come with a 24 month guarantee and that's about all they last.
On our trip this last weekend, the batteries were fully charged prior to our leaving water level still full. It was cold up in Yosemite with the temp dropping down to 24. We only used about 50 amps per day according to my battery monitoring system. I ran the generator for 2-3 hours per day and brought the level up to 80%. It should have been higher for the time run. At night, the voltage dropped quickly down to 12 volts when the furnace was on and a light or two. In the past, it would be about 12.2-12.3. Then last night, it dropped down quickly to 11.8 and this morning before I could run the generator, it was down to 11.4 volts. The battery monitor showed I was down 50% in amp drain. The 2 batteries were 28 months old. Time to get my 4th set. I checked and there isn't enough room for 2-6volt bateries becasue of my compartment size. They would be too tall.
There is a Trojan dealer about 25 miles from me. Is it worth the drive to get Trojan group 24s instead of Interstate?
My last pair of Interstates didnt last past the warranty either. I use the same converter as you do. My present pair of Walmart Marine batteries are over 5 years old & are just starting to fade. I am going to use Wally again.

RE: Clean A/C on Roof of Fifth Wheel?

Be careful not to apply too much water pressure to the fin area. They are soft aluminum & high water pressure will flatten them out.

RE: Dropped it!

What I really like about this website? The OP dropped his brand new fiver. This happens!! But what do we hear? Comments that start on about page 2 or 3 that have the tone of 'I'm perfect and plan my hitch so that it will never happen to me'. These folks, the OP, in reality, had a problem, asked, if you really care to read between the lines, how can I not do this again. There are some really good answers. Then come the "It will never happen to me". Please folks, go walk on water, feed the massses, but stop those inept and inane statements. It can happen. It does happen. It did happen. And yes, after 18+ years, I 'tested' my Bed Saver. I sincerely doubt that most here have as much experience in terms of years as I have with a 5er - and I for sure use a check list, and still messed up but luckily, with no damage - because I have a Bed Saver. Is it a crutch - yep, but for sure it saved me a bunch of money vs. the $200 it cost for peace of mind. Do I recommend one. Yep - but for only those who don't have a perfect life.
Yep, took me 19 years too ,but I finally did it.
Like the old saying goes, there are those who have done it & those who will.

RE: Repairing Cracked AC Covers

Heat and the UV take their toll and make them brittle after a number of years.
Repairing a brittle cover is a temporary fix. Might consider buying a new one.
Yep,when they get old & brittle, save your time, get a new one.

RE: GelCoat Fading

The shine in gel-coat is in the outer layer of the finish. Once this layer has been oxidized or buffed off, it will never be "new" shiny again.

RE: HELP !!! Broken suspension links need fixed ASAP

Do not drive it anywhere. Your suspension is disconnected and inoperable on that wheel. And the wheel next to it is out of position and likely very close to rubbing on the floor of your trailer. And will cause more damage and possibly rip the tread off you tires.
As others have said, get replacement links from an RV supply shop and get new bushings for the springs. All the parts are available in a kit, with new bolts included. So install new bolts. If wet bolt kits are available, use those.
Be sure to get the replacement links in the right dimensions. Jack it up and you can do the job yourself. Couple hours.
I agree with the majority, wet bolts. I have done mine & if others think you can do it in a couple of hours, I have some waterfront property in Tucson I would like to sell them.
This is a tough job. Get a truck spring shop to do it.

RE: 2004 Travel Supreme Quality

We're going to look at it this evening. The owner says the trailer GVWR is 14,500#, so we'll see. Our tow vehicle is a 2004 Chevy crew cab, D/A, 2wd.
Thanks
Your truck will handle it.

I would not put a T in the line. It will allow side to side rocking.
I agree, you have free airflow from side to side.

RE: Tire wear

Take it to a truck wheel alignment shop & I am sure you will find an alignment problem. They will bend the axles to correct the problem. Very few trailers are built with perfect wheel alignment.
