RE: Hitch Pin Tripod - Worthwile?

for what its worth, i use mine when setting for more than 1 night.. i can see a noticeable difference(however it has to used correctly) why it works? think of a diving board...its an over exaggeration but generally the same principle... by securing the front you are removing potential flex..ever stood on a diving board while someone is bouncing on the end? that flex veberates all the way back through the diving board if you secure the front of the diving board..no matter how hard someone jumps on it, you wont feel it even though a diving board in itself is flexible hope that makes sense

RE: Fifth Wheel or Travel Trailer

my personal choice is a 5er i used to be an OTR trucker so the quirk of backing isnt an issue(actually, the issue i see in backing is from people who are accustomed to pulling a regular hitch trailer and cant seem to adjust off of that) when hauling, i cant really tell its(5er) there whereas i have pulled enough trailers of all kinds to have been BIT by the snake of sudden onset Sway(SCARY) enough times to know it will be an issue it would be nice to have the bed of the truck though

RE: DirecTV staffed by MORONS!

most if not all of those sat techs have Zero experience in rv wiring installation in an RV is custom work and should only be approached by you(the owner)- you cant sue yourself if something goes wrong, or a qualified RV service dept

RE: MOBILE TOOL BOX

2 specific items I carry - 1. a 1 1/16" socket that fits the drain plug/anode rod on my hot water heater. 2. - just added this last year - a soldering iron! On a trip last spring I lost 2 connections for 12v plugs - both ran 12v fans in the camper! Easy fix - but impossible without this tool! Ended up getting a Weller BATTERY-powered soldering iron. Couldn't use it to sweat pipes, but works great for standard electrical connections! Didn't see mechanics wire mentioned, or teflon tape, either... ST excellent idea and since you mentioned it..im going to add a small selection of terminal tips and wire splice "beanies" to my accesory box mental note: dont forget the solder

RE: Dealer prep & walk thru

We told the dealer that we would take the unit w/o the prep and walk thru he told us it wouldn't be covered under warranty. He is telling us that it costs $109/pr hour to have the trailer gone thru. Later he was asked how long it took and stated 4-5 hours sure sounds like it could be $218 per hour if it only takes them that length of time. We are still going back and forth on this issue and I sent off a email to CW corporate and waiting for an answer. a warranty isnt from a dealer is it? its from the manufacturer (for ex: i buy a dewalt tool from lowes and it acts up..sure, lowes will take it back however all they will do is ship it back to Dewalt under the MANUFACTURES warranty) right there SCREAMS shady...i despise scammers just my 2 cents

RE: MOBILE TOOL BOX

just some quickies that might not be obvious that i know i have in my 5th wheel(and use) -multimeter -decent cordless drill/driver with full set of accesories(screwdriver bits, drill bits, sockets etc....as well as a box of various screws, nails and fasteners -vicegrips -small and large adjustable wrench - set of the mini screwdrivers in case i need to open up a laptop or a hand held video game)some have a securing screw on the battery door) etc -channel lock pliers and needle nose pliers this is a partial list...i cheated after a while and bought one of those handy black decker full tool cases with most of this stuff in it similar to this one but with a more stuff http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51vwSxijtwL._AA400_.jpg

RE: Dealer prep & walk thru

The problem is that we get googled eyed over what we are purchasing and do not want to stop the deal. i guess that is what has me irked about this topic they psychologically leverage you after the fact...its not THEM grabbing at more money, its you trying to balk(cheat) at a deal you already agreed to(if you dont blindly agree to all the fees and charges) reminds me when i bought a used truck a few yrs back for cash at a lot negotiated...got a great deal cuz i was using cash... sat down to finalize the paperwork....while yakking, he subtly slide another document to sign...picked up the document and started to put my reading glasses back on ...he just casually waved his hand and said all he needed was a signiture(basically to indicate to just sign the thing and no need to read it) it was a document that stated i agreed to all these "FEES" that added up to close to 900 additional dollars(on a simple used truck cash deal) i mean silly stuff like a document prep fee for 250...etc of course i didnt fall for it and got the vehicle for the actual negotiated price however i was treated as if it was my fault and that i had cheated them vent over

RE: Dealer prep & walk thru

My nephew offered to purchase the unit at the advertised price which was already discounted, the prep fees are over and above the advertised price... yeah.... one of those "OH by the way" fees they try to run past ya quickly after all the negotiations are over and its at the paperwork part that in itself indicates a major bait and hook scam to me

RE: Dealer prep & walk thru

at first i saw 110.00 and thought that it was crazy for a dealer to charge to show you(your nephew) HOW to use his product then i reread and saw that extra ZERO......."insert appropriate cuss words here" your nephew needs to WALK to another dealer

RE: Generator Problem

glad it worked out(cheaply) a decent multimeter(to me) is a required item for my tool box the same pragmatic steps you took in tracing out(isolating) this "issue" can be used on just about any power issue... sure beats throwing expensive bandaids at "guesswork"

RE: Tv remote turns on 2 different brand of TVs in house.

possibly place a decorative pot/vase/plant/book etc in a strategic location to block the remote's signal from reaching the bedroom tv ? edit: i looked up both brands on the direct tv universal remote tv code lookup and both tv brands work off the same code...10171* if you want, you can check different sites but all will show the same thing there is nothing you can do other than block the signal as i stated above the poster who stated that different codes were available is wrong...only one code will will work with a particular tv... a manufacturer might show having multiple codes (for ex: rca has like 20 different codes) however a particluar model only has 1 code for it..period... whats funny though is some manufactures have multiple models but all use the same code(i think sanyo is one that comes to mind) good luck

RE: cable to Sat.

im personally happy with my directv as compared to time warner(which i was happy to cancel) i pay for 3 boxes..one is a HD DVR and 2 standards....got a small dish out in the camper so when we go camping, we grab one(or 2) of the boxes and go money wise, it worked out about the same(i guess) but i also got the flexibilty of taking it with me on the road and dont have to deal with ------------------------------------->timewarner

RE: Generator Problem

basic questions have you traced the output from the gen with a volt meter(multimeter)? is the gen generating power? (if no... check the breakers on the gen) if so...are you reading voltage at the converter(tranfer or whatever its called) on the input side? (if no..trace the wires back to the gen for breaks or shorts to include a bad plug) if so... are you reading power on the output side? (if no....you have a bad converter possibly) if so... have you re seated your breakers to insure one isnt tripped, possibly the main breaker on the AC side hope this half of a path of trouble shooting gets ya started good luck

RE: Moderators question

MODS most likely have ZERO influence(or answers) to questions such as this the PAID owners and IT geeks could care less what ads are on a for profit site everytime you start clicking, your adding revenue so the way you dissent is to not click ATTICA!!! ATTICA!!! eta: isnt a great country where you can be capitalistic by making money on socialistic ads?:B
