RE: Removing Eternabond

Brake cleaner (spray type) will SOMEWHAT dissolve the Eternabond adhesive. Makes it a lot easier to remove, anyway. Seems better than lacquer thinner to me because the brake cleaner doesn't evaporate quickly.

RE: Suggestions for EASY way to wax fiberglass roof

Kamphiker:
If you didn't like the Poli-Glow you won't want Mop-N-Glo. They're about the same thing, not a wax but a very durable coating.

RE: Suggestions for EASY way to wax fiberglass roof

Don't know about "UV protectant" but Mop & Glow lasts 2 yrs on our front & rear caps and 1 yr on the top. Much better than ALL the waxes, Protect All, etc. we tried. Just make sure the surface is CLEAN before applying M'n'Glo, it will seal any discoloration.

RE: How long is your double (triple) tow setup?

We tow the sig. vehicles and have had no probs. in 4 yrs. Of course the truck weighs 14,000 lbs. so may look more capable/safer to LEO's.
70' 11" TOTAL HOOK UP COUNTING BIKE RACK ON FRONT OF TRUCK.
69' 7" BUMPER TO BUMPER W/O COUNTING BIKE RACK.
Don't believe any state allows two ball tow.

RE: Carriage doesn't compete with Newmar, Excel

We checked out the Carriage line when we were ready to trade our 1998 Carriage in 2005. Found their quality had dropped considerably since the originator sold the company.
Warranties are pretty much a "don't pass go" proposition anyway; once you write the check it's your baby. Our much vaunted 2 year warranty on the Excel was totally worthless, we rectified the design & manufacturing flaws ourselves! Pick your floor plan and hope for the best, I guess.

RE: Mold and or Mildew

Go to Home Depot, Lowes, Ace Hadware. etc. Buy Jomax and use it with water and bleach as directed. We in Florida use it quite often. Regardless of what Dicor says, Tilex is 2.4% sodium hypochlorite, basically a 50-50 mixture of household bleach & water at an inflated price and very detrimental to ANY metal. It will eat your trim screws, hitch, steps, etc. and will discolor most aluminum.
It's still pretty much impossible to remove ALL the black mold stain from rubber roofs & vinyl trim, but Jomax/bleach/water combo is the norm down here. Very little rubbing required, the chemical action does most of the work.
Good Luck, Jim

RE: Furnace fan question

With my experience re: the poor design of several systems of this Excel trailer it doesn't surprise me that only 1% of the furnace/air conditioners are built this way. That said, and bearing in mind we don't normally use the furnace for heat(have a Blue Flame type heater),can't say anything bad about the t'stat, heat & a/c operation; have never had a problem. Have used the Atwood furnace "Fan Only" setting a few times to warm the basement during infrequent below freezing nights and it did fine.

RE: Removing black streaks & stains that soap won't get off?

fpresto:
Sorry about that, it was Tilex I was thinking about. Recommended by many on this site and nothing but 2.4% Sodium Hypochlorite(approx. 1/2 strength bleach). Have evidently never used or needed Scrubbing Bubbles since a 10 or 20 to 1 mix of Awesome sprayed on whole trailer from a small garden type hand sprayer and a light pole brushing will remove all "black streaks" and any other normal soil(except tar, grease, tree sap, etc). Finish off with a full rinse of Zip Wash & Wax using a siphon sprayer w/o any scrubbing to deposit a light wax coat and a final rinse with plain water and you're set for at least 2 mos. The windows will have to be squeegeed to remove the wax film.
Pogoil:
Using Awesome undiluted is way against the directions on the container and may be what caused your streaks.

RE: Removing black streaks & stains that soap won't get off?

I promoted Awesome years ago for black streaks but I see that some are using it full strength. 1 to 10 Awesome/water works fine for black streaks. I've even used 1 to 20 and gotten good results. Scrubbing Bubbles is nothing but diluted bleach @ a high price, read the label. Don't EVER mix bleach with any other cleaning product unless the usage directions on the bleach container OK it, chemical reactions!

RE: Furnace fan question

Doug:
Your thermostat pic looks like mine but is designated 1H2C whereas mine is 2H2C. Being a Diemaker not an Electrician, I'm not much up on the electrical stuff. Fact remains, the furnace fan will run on Hi Fan or Lo Fan w/o burner ignition, just as the AC fan will run w/o compressor on. Had my shop electrician make a relay system w/seperate switch to do the same thing in my 1998 Carriage to circulate air. Don't think trailer manf. had anything to do with this on the Excel since the digital readout specifies the functions as I posted earlier.
By the way, I designed & built(from a cab & chassis)this toter truck in my shop, so am pretty well aware of what's in IT.

RE: Campground etiquette

Why does anyone need a 24 hr. campfire when the temp is >90deg? We are both asthmatics and the unnecessary smoke is very troubling. And why does a resident of Alabama, the home of the most polite adults and best raised children in this great country, feel called upon to laugh at folks with respiratory problems?
Confused.

RE: INSTALLING HOME CONCRETE RV PAD ?

Installing concrete is a trade, not a DIY. Get a GOOD local contractor and don't go for the CHEAPEST. Removing a bad concrete pad is a PITA, not to mention expensive.

Good on you, bud. Glad someone understands instead of lumping skilled tradesmen into the "factory worker" catagory! Total 17 yrs. schooling and 40 yrs. experience deserves more respect. The income was good but the attempted denigration by some pudgy, uneducated and lazy CLERK is really irritating.

RE: Furnace fan question

Maybe this will make it easier to understand.
Excel is a FIFTH WHEEL RV. TV is a Bering Class 6 TRUCK, 23,500 GVW.
Digital thermostat controls Atwood Hydroflame, 2 stage furnace, Model 2H2C and Airxcel(RVP/Coleman) 8,000 Series with Chillgrille, 15,000 btu ac.
Settings obtained through a 4 position slide switch & a Mode selector button.
HEAT settings = Hi,Lo,HiFan,Lo Fan & Auto.
COOL settings = Hi,Lo,Hi Fan,Lo Fan & Auto.

RE: Furnace fan question

Guess my furnace must be a "house" unit, Doug. It's been installed in the Excel by mistake apparantly, since it has a fan only setting on the thermostat for both the air conditioner & the Hydroflame furnace. Thanks for the info; I didn't know
Atwood even made residential heaters.
