RE: Genarator shutting off when driveing?

Does the genset engine stop running or does it only trip the breaker?

RE: ABS fault horn is driving me crazy

Find the fuse and pull it.
That is real bad advice!
You need all the stopping power you can get. Brakes not working properly is a disaster waiting to happen.
I would NOT drive it until I knew for sure I had a brake system that was working PROPERLY.

RE: Fuel shut off solenoid bad? UPDATE

I'd start by looking for a loose wire connection.
Bad fuse or fusible link and its not coming back till fixed.

RE: Generator Oil?

Yes, it matters, a lot!
What API classification does the maker of the engine specify?
Different oil for diesel or gas, or even propane for that matter.
Weight of the oil (10W30) is not the API classification which will be on the order of SH, SJ, CF-4, CJ and more..............

RE: 50a friendly generator?

Have the Home Depot guy explain it to you.
You are paying rent on something he claimed would suit your needs.
Apparently its not.
Take it up with him.
Big stretch to lay blame on the HD dude. The OP doesn't understand how a 50amp Rig actually works.
This is just a case of not understanding exactly How much power the Rv will use and How the power from a Portable genset is distributed :)
I'm in the generator business. I rent you a genset and tell you it'll work and it doesn't I'm the one that makes it right. Through the years I have learned to keep my mouth shut on matters I don't know about, sometimes my experience and sometimes seeing others insert feet in mouth.

RE: onan marquis carb

From your description, sounds like its running lean.
Probably got trash or varnish partially blocking a passage in the carburetor. Might be able to run some SeaFoam, Berryman's or like stuff through it and possibly dissolve the varnish deposit, if that is the problem. Also possible you have an air leak, loose carburetor, loose manifold bolt, gasket/o-ring, cracked/leaking vacuum line.
You did not include model/spec/serial number so not sure of what carburetor you have but most can be disassembled for cleaning. Be careful, might not be able to get gaskets, thanks to the CARB/EPA.

RE: Best replacement generator for around $3k?

How about taking it back to whoever worked on it last?
If I fixed your genset and if in short order, it had a problem, I'd appreciate having an opportunity to make it right, if its because of something I did or did not do.
Onan makes the very best genset in the business, bar none.
You are not going to get anything near that Onan for that kind of money. Will also reduce the value of your MH if you replace it with anything.
If you are really set on something else, look to one of the radiator cooled Hondas. Keep in mind that is must be properly installed, something that can easily end up breaking your budget.

RE: What coolant for Onan 7500 Quiet Diesel?

Same as what is it.
They came with green but someone may have changed it.
There is universal coolant out there that can be mixed with anything, yellow in color.
Might be a good time to flush.

RE: 135 volts out of Inverter

What do mean by a "good Fluke"?
I am not familiar with that inverter. Point of that is it a modified sine wave inverter and does that particular Fluke measure true RMS? Guess using another meter to verify what yours is telling you would be my first step. Even "good" Fluke meters sometimes loose calibration.
Yes that voltage is a little higher than what I would want.

RE: Onan generator hard to start

Unless you post the whole model/spec/serial number, you probably are not going to get any meaningful advice. Got to know what you have, carbureted or fuel injected just part of it.

What level of genset output voltage do you have when it runs?
See if output voltage goes away before it stops.

RE: Advice on which Digital Clamp-On meter to purchase

Using an clamp on ammeter to find why you have no power is sort of trying to change a tire with a screw driver. Wrong tool.

RE: onan generator

Post the whole model/spec/serial number.
Carbureted or fuel injected?
Points or electronic ignition?
When was it last serviced?
Fuel filter or fuel pump. Cracked/leaking fuel line. Intake manifold leak.
Spark plugs.

RE: mild buzz from TT door

Most doubtful you can feel .2VDC under any circumstances.
As 12VDC is commonly used to power a lot of different appliances, would think you would be a whole lot more likely to see this. Also highly unlikely to feel that.
It is far more likely that you are feeling AC. Measure for it.

RE: Disappointing Cummins service

No fuel filters for a "C"? I think probably the filter the MH maker hung on the chassis is they one they don't carry.
The breaker? Thats an odd ball one, I'd be real surprised if they would have had it.
