RE: Harbor Freight for RV's

Bought their 2HP dust collector for wood shop. For RV, I bought a super duty suction cup to hold my home-built genturi exhaust in place. Right at a 100 mile round trip for me also.

RE: 5er to class C?

We made a similar move last August and there are several things I like better with MH and several I liked better with 5'er. The "getting there" is much more enjoyable driving/riding in the MH. We do not have a toad so we've simplified our camp setup so we can take MH from site quickly. We don't have autolevelers but have found (based on advise here) you can wiggle around the site and get level enough. I also found hitching 5'er to be easy but not hitching anything is wonderful (unless taking our boat) :B
From the 5'er world, the slide opened more giving more floor space. I really like the high ceilings. The galley area was more spacious (cabinets & counter top).

RE: Sleep decently: sofa, dinette, bunk, corner bed, or...?

We looked at several shorter models with corner beds and cab-over only beds (plus dinette and/or sofa bed). Only way I could see a corner bed working is if person against wall could "scoot" down to foot to get out. Some of the walls at foot of the corner beds looked like they would prevent this. My thoughts too if I had to do without sofa or dinette would be to lose the dinette. Because our older teen kids actually still like camping with us, we opted for the longer C with island queen.
You mention using MH in place of toad. In addition to overall length, check specs for wheelbase. I recently drove a shorter wheelbase rental U Haul truck and was amazed at the tighter turns it made over our MH which has stretched wheelbase. Told DW when it is just 2 of us, we need to revisit the shorter MHs.

RE: Wheel simulators

Are you sure you have a 2010 Chevy Chassis?????? I have a 2010 Freelander but it is on a 2008 Express Chassis. Yours might be the same setup.
How do you find out?
I know I have the 6 speed tranny...do you?
Google up one of the VIN lookup sites and enter your VIN?

RE: Plumbing / Draining Tanks

I've always seen them connected together also. A valve on each that T into one connector after the valves. I believe some RVs with a 2nd gray tank that has its own valve/connector separate from main black/gray setup.

RE: Need Help - MH lights Problem!

That is an odd problem.
Ironically, I also had some odd light problems. Today we rented a U-Haul truck to move DD and her boyfriend back to college. I moved it from front of house where we loaded it to back for night. When I turned lights off, the parking lights would not go off. I jiggled/twisted/turned the light switch knob thinking it must be a short in it. Finally decided to see if I could find a fuse to pull for night and contact U-Haul tomorrow before heading to Statesboro. I pulled a trailer light fuse and the parking lights went out. All the lights still worked with that fuse out. Put it back in and parking lights stayed off. Turned lights on/off and same issue. Fuse is now pulled out :B I'll probably just leave it out and tell them about it when we drop off tomorrow after unloading.

RE: How many of you tow a boat with your Class C?

Made my 3rd launch this past weekend towing boat with our MH. There wasn't enough room to do the U turn before backing down ramp so I had to do some backup maneuvering to get around. Once lined up, backing down ramp went smooth. This ramp is a little more steep that the one I'd used first two times but it was no problem.

RE: How many of you tow a boat with your Class C?

Once the car is backed off the lower portion of trailer, the upper probably comes down with hydraulics to allow the boat to be taken off.

RE: How many of you tow a boat with your Class C?

We've towed the boat in signature twice and will do again this Fri :B :B :B It is a 2002 Glastron GX205 (20' bowrider with Mercruiser 5.0L sterdrive). I'm guessing it is in the 3000-3500lb range also. It tows great behind our MH but I'm not sure I'd want to stick another 2K back there. Launching/retrieval was much easier than I feared...just go nice and slow.
I've not measured fuel mileage...scared I might stop using it if I knew :B

RE: life in a motorhome

Sounds like a wonderful trip! I wish DW and I could get time off from work to do something like that. I'm always telling friends/coworkers that take vacations out-of-country that I've not seen enough of our own country yet.
We took trip to Disney and Ft Wilderness several years back...it is a "magical" place!

RE: Had my first boat trailer blow out when towing

ClemenP,
I've pulled our 20' Glastron twice with 32' MH since getting it last Aug. It pulled great. Because of the long rear overhang, the boat trailer hardly tracked inside MH at all on turns.
Launching was much easier than I was anticipating. The ramp at campground is a big cul-d-sac type setup with ramp at slightly more than 90* to road coming into circle. I pulled into cul-d-sac, made turn around and went back up the road a little. This set me up for a long back down ramp with a sweeping turn to my left. I just went nice and slow watching driver side mirror and backup camera. Our camera has mic so I could hear DW directing me. On the 2 launches and retrieves I've not had to pull forward to get re-aligned. We're camping at a different campground in 2 weeks and ramp setup is a little different...hope it goes as well.
Feel free to send me message if you have any questions.

RE: Rig is finally ours

Congrats! As mentioned, having one person drive while the other is on "rattle patrol" works great. We found the pop-up toaster to be the noisiest thing ever invented. The heating elements/springs would get to rattling against metal sides. Place it in cabinet on folded dish towel and it is much, much, much quieter.
Unless previous owner changed suspension parts ours is stock and have had no problem in fairly heavy cross winds or on interstate with big rigs.
Enjoy!!!

RE: Had my first boat trailer blow out when towing

Bummer on the flat! Glad nothing more serious from it.
Looks like y'all had a great time. I'd love a place to beach on the water like that! Shorelines around here are mostly all either red Georgia clay or folk's lawn.
We just pulled in from weekend at lake ourselves :B Only second time launching with the MH and it did great again! I'm really surprised how easy it is to back a 25' boat trailer down a ramp with a 32' Class C MH. In 2 weeks will be the 3rd trip...hope I don't blow it. After 9 years or so boating, we don't take pictures like we used too :(

Another A/C problem - coach unit this time

Got the MH home from mechanic working on chassis A/C, plugged in shore power and turned on coach A/C to cool MH off so we could start loading up for weekend trip. The fan made an awful noise and the whole A/C was trying to bounce off the roof! It sounded like a helicopter taking off. I figured it had to be something out of balance with the fan. I pulled the inside cover off and saw no issues. Climbed on roof and pulled the outside cover off. I found a huge dirt dauber nest attached to the fan! Knocked it off with a screwdriver and washed fan down with a wet rag. All is well again :B :B :B At least with the MH's A/C units!!!

RE: E450 Cab A/C problem

Mechanic used computer code scanner and found it was reporting the WOT cutout was on. If I understood right, the WOT cutout is triggered by the Throttle Position Sensor which is functioning correctly. He's thinking there is a short or broken wire in the WOT wiring. The relay is OK. He had not found exact issue yet and we need MH for trip this weekend so he put in a fused line between low pressure cutout switch and compressor. Right now, A/C seems to be working except it will not cutout at WOT for extra power. He will start tracing down broken wire again after we get back. I couldn't get MH all the way around his yard to shop but was able to get into driveway for him.

RE: Yonder the chair

Another HO, I think that chair is great for reading, drinking coffee while looking out window or enjoying conversation with the family. But, as mentioned, not very good for watching the TV. I do wish it had a flip up foot rest like a recliner.
