RE: Tiger Woods injured in Car Crash

Since when has any TV station been a "Class Act"?

RE: Keep or Toss A/C w/ Freon Loss?

Compressor refrigerant oil is what leaked out, most likely from that hole. I would replace the unit since it is 26 years old.

RE: Hot water heater and the cold weather

If you have electronic ignition on the water heater, that light you speak of should go out and stay out after the water heater lights. and in this type of water heater, there isn't a pilot light, just the main burner. A make and model number would help.

RE: I wonder how many openings

I guess there was one too many security "openings" already. :B And BTW, no one ever gets fired from a security position at the White House. They just end-up "missing". :E

RE: Do you mask before caulking?

I would think if you masked, removing the tape while wet would leave little strands along the edge. In 30 years of RV repair, I never masked. It's an aquired skill and even after all this time, I sometimes still "miss-the-mark". And BTW, a wet finger will not work with 100% silicone caulking.

RE: 2007 Rexhall Rose Aire TREX

I suggest you call Rexhall in Lancaster ca. They will be glad to provide you with information and possibly a brochure from the 2007 year. Was in the RV business for many, many years and worked for Rexhall. I still feel it's one of the finest coaches built.

Just remember that if you park under trees, it won't work.

RE: Staying warm off-grid enroute to snowbird place

You can get a Buddy heater catalytic for while you are awake and rely on the furnce while sleeping. Your battery should then get you through the sleeping hours easily. Buddy heaters are NOT of the catalytic technology. They use a flooded perforated ceramic block and not a catalytic platinum pad, for combustion. This is why the Buddy heaters have a higher Co output than the Olympian Wave cat heaters or any catalytic heater for that matter.

RE: Staying warm off-grid enroute to snowbird place

It will depend how your TV is wired whether or not your truck battery will drain if you leave the trailer connected. Most tow vehicles, if properly wired, should have a charge line that runs throu an electronic or mechanical battery isolator. I have always wired my tow vehicles this way and my last two Fords had factory wiring that went through a relay that prevented interaction with the truck battery when the key was off.

RE: 50 amp to 120 volt adapter

The adapter you show is not 50 amp nor is it one that can convert an RV shore line to 15 amps unless you have a 30-amp twist-lock on the RV. If so, then you could use the adapter shown but would then need a 15-amp extension cord to go to the power source. If you indeed do have a 50-amp shore-line, you need a simple 50 amp female to 15-amp male adapter, about $20.00 at most RV stores or Wal. Mart

RE: Furnace run time question

Your high-limit switch may be tripping/cycling thereby not allowing the furnace to reach it's maximum temperature. Be sure none of your registers are blocked or turned off and that your battery (If dry-camping) is fully charged which, if not, would cause insufficient air-flow over the combustion chamber and thereby activate the high-limit switch.

RE: Refrigerator Questions

The problem with the flame going out is not that it creates a fire hazard, since the gas goes off when the flame dies. But if the flame is out, the fridge is no longer cooling and your beer could get warm. Now THAT is a real problem!! Amen! More reason to bring along a cooler dedicated to beer! :B

RE: refrig to cold

I have found that over cooling is usually the result of a thermister that has failed. Disconnect the thermistor harness from the P2, 2-pin terminal on the lower circuit board. Place the thermistor in a glass of ice water (more ice than water), approximately 33° F to 35° F. Wait 8 to 10 minutes. You should get a reading of approximately 8,000 to 10,000 ohms. If you get something like 30,000 ohms or infinite, replace the thermistor. Matt the Mobile RV Tech Yup. The temperature control on the circuit board defaults to full on when the thermistor goes bad.

RE: Refrigerator Questions

If you run it while traveling (which I do), watch out that the gas flame does not blow out due to the wind. Do they not have a valve that shuts off the gas when the flame goes out? If not I would imagine that could be like a small size nuclear bomb you're dragging around just waiting for a spark to send you and the trailer up with the mushroom cloud! :E http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h40/GShipe/30330ludd_w.jpg The safety device that proves flame and shuts down the gas valve should the flasme blow out is a flame sensor in an electronic ignition model and a thermocouple in a refer that uses a manual Piezeo push-button starter.

RE: Big/Tough Buddy Propane Heaters....More Info

Here is the heater that I'm talking about. I repeat, not to be used inside an RV even with several windows open. If you value the life of your family or close one. http://www.campingworld.com/shopping/product/mr-heater-portable-buddy-heater/7881 Again, you are wrong. Perfectly fine for indoor use when used according to the manufacturers recomendations. I have used this model and the Big Buddy inside my camper shell with the proper ventelation and I am still here to talk about it. Look HERE to see manufacturers statement on indoor use and safety.

And FYI............ The Buddy series of heaters are NOT catalytic technology. They use a flooded perforated ceramic block for their burners unlike catalytic heaters that use a platinum impregnated glass cloth.

RE: Big/Tough Buddy Propane Heaters....More Info

I have purchased this portable propane heater from Camping World and used it for about five minutes, that is, just about as I was going to die from carbon monoxide gas poisoning. I was sick for about three hours after that experience. The carbon monoxide gas fumes from this unit are completely lethal. I returned the unit to Camping World asking them to post a stern warning about the gas poisoning effect of this system. The unit is not to be used inside an RV, unless you have the door and several windows open. At around 50f outside, i don,t see the point of eating the outside. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbon_monoxide I don't know if the mod will allow this link, but IMO, the unit recommended by Bob Vila is far superior and harmless. http://www.edenpuremidwest.com/?Click=11455 Please! You are comparing apples to oranges or should I say propane to electricity. The Buddy heaters are totally safe indoors when used properly.
