RE: Another version of full-timing

I'm still in India and here are some pictures of the ONLY RV I have seen in 4 months here. It was in the seaside town of Varkala and he was parked on a beautiful cliff overlooking the Indian Ocean. It was a couple from France and said they had shipped it over to Chennai from Malaysia! He made some comment about Americans never going anywhere. LOL! I asked if he had any trouble with all the low powerlines and he said no - but then his wife started telling me about all the times they had to back up and unwrap themselves. This is not the place for a 45 foot Diesel - let's be clear. He also claimed there were other Rv's in India but his wife didn't recall seeing any others. However, I have mostly been in the South and only now getting to more "civilized" North India. Currently we are in a $13 hotel with a perfect view of the Taj Mahal. Beautiful. Have fun folks! http://i1007.photobucket.com/albums/af195/smithandjones99/th_IMG_7175.jpg http://i1007.photobucket.com/albums/af195/smithandjones99/th_IMG_7174.jpghttp://i1007.photobucket.com/albums/af195/smithandjones99/th_IMG_7176.jpg

Another version of full-timing

We are continuing our version of "full-timing" with no sticks/bricks home. We have been on the road over 5 years and traveled to Mexico, Belize, Canada and of course Rving all over the U.S. with 5 summers (one winter) in Alaska. Now, we go the next step - beginning tomorrow with a one way plane ticket to the country of India. We're not sure when we will return but approximately 12-18 months with travel to other countries likely before returning to the U.S. We've met a few people doing similar travels but it is certainly not conventional full-timing and my doctor just calls us "homeless" :h - but we love it! I've had fun here on rv.net and wish everyone well - I may make an occasional appearance while overseas but the moderators will have less work to do for sure. :)

If you do volunteer that makes you liberal by most conservatives definition. Huh???????????????? Since when? And where did you find this fact? Read this The article discusses the major philosophy of modern conservatives as espoused by Ayn Rand and the virtue of selfishness. Consider the quote "Among the things offensive to followers of Ayn Rand is the concept of one volunteering their time in the service of others. Those national figures who loudly proclaim they are conservative today clearly worship Ayn Rand and would not argue with what I'm telling you.

RE: Yankees vs Phillies

Damon steals second - then third! What happened there? Good to see Rodriguez hit the ball when the Phillies aren't beaning him. But Cliff Lee pitches for the Phillies again tomorrow night, so I still say Yankees in 6.

RE: Buying RV from Internet

I don't understand why anyone would buy sight unseen. You can do all the steps listed above to make sure it is what you want before going to see it. But there is no reason to commit to buy without going out to see it. If you are willing to plunk down all that money, why aren't you willing to travel to see it? IMHO you are asking for trouble if you send any money before inspecting the vehicle yourself.

RE: Background checks...... Fingerprints?

Definately would refuse to pay for it if volunteering. That would be the first sign they don't treat volunteers well.

RE: Las Vegas

O come on gotta drive the strip, big part of the experience. Drive it once during the day and at least once after dark. Amazing For sure, once at night. After that, only at 3-5 a.m. IMHO.

RE: Las Vegas

it would appear to me if you stay off of the strip that you can drive in and park somewhere- comments? Every casino has a parking garage for free self parking. Or if you're feeling lazy, special, or in a hurry they all have free valet parking also (remember to tip). There are also parking garages downtown although they tend to have time limits and may require a trip to the free validation machine. If you'll be in Vegas long consider buying the Las Vegas Advisor coupon book FYI - try not to drive right on "the strip" aka Las Vegas Boulevard. Learn to use the side/parallel streets and you will save tons of time. Arizona Charlies Sams Town Roadrunner

RE: What do you do with all your money??

Can you put it in a US bank and get a debit card the same day or what. Yes, you could open an account at a US bank. A debit card is usually mailed to you in about 2 weeks or so. However, as others indicated, there is no reason to open a new bank account if you already have a debit card with your present bank.

RE: Zion River Resort

To each there own - but looking at pictures I have a hard time agreeing that Watchman is crowded compared with the Zion resort. $30 -$40 extra dollars for a pool and wifi is up to the consumer I guess. http://www.zionriverresort.com/images/zion_river_resort_r3_c5.jpg height=150 width=150 http://www.nps.gov/zion/planyourvisit/images/WatchmanCG_Watchman_r.jpg height=150 width=150

RE: What's to See in Arkansas?

Get a picture of an ivory-billed woodpecker. :) I agree with all the posts above especially - Craters of Diamond State Park. If you have a choice, go the day after a hard rain as the diamonds rise to the top. Clinton Library in Little Rock. I found the history of the 1995 Budget Crisis and Government shutdown very interesting. Buffalo River, Lake Ouachita, Ouachita NF, Hot Springs, Hot Springs National Park, Little Rock - all good places to spend time.

RE: Yankees vs Phillies

Cliff Lee struck out 10 Yankees, caught a pop up with his eyes closed, and fielded a grounder with his glove behind his back. There was no stopping him last night and he deserves all the credit in the world. If the Phillies have more pitchers like that then the Yankees are going down. However, I'm sticking with my prediction of Yankees in 6. That gives Lee his 2.

RE: What do people want from their news ?

One big problem is that commentary passes for news and the "news" networks are filled with commentary and have very little actual news reports. Unfortunately, the commentary we hear is full of "mistatements" and irrational leaps of logic that are never corrected, or worse, repeated many times. Even the "breaking" news stories are full of guesses, hearsay, and overdramatization. IMHO - lies are lies - they are not just biased opinions.
