RE: Cost of Travel in Mexico...

Last winter we spent $46 CAN per day. This includes everything purchased while in Mexico. Food, gas, propane, booze (lots!), overnighting, entertainment, touristy things (not many) and even includes $550 I spent at the dentist. It is MUCH cheaper to RV in Mexico.

RE: Best price for Trojan T-105's...?

Costco has them for $76.00 each. Do you have a Costco near you? They can also order them. I don't believe those are Trojan's...or are they?

RE: Lubricating the winegard antenna question

Annually, I squirt a abundance of WD-40 on anything that looks like a hinge or friction point on our Wineguard antenna. WD-40 will it's way down into anything that moves. DO NOT use WD-40! Only silicon spray is to be used. Direct from the Winegard website... You will want to lubricate the quad ring 3-4 times each year to keep it from getting brittle. To lubricate this ring just spray the gear housing on the roof with a silicone spray lubricant. DO NOT use WD-40 as it is a solvent and will eat your gears.

RE: Best price for Trojan T-105's...?

Birmingham, AL dealer has T-105's for $92 each. That is likely before any fees but I am not sure. Dealer's number is 205-320-1600. I will be getting 2 in the spring to replace my puny 12v battery that came with the camper. That's what I wanted to hear, thanks sonicsix! I see that dealer has several locations. I'll try and confirm your price tomorrow... Battery Sales and Service

RE: Best price for Trojan T-105's...?

I don't know much about golf cart batteries but I recently purchased a set of T-860's here in SC for about $93.00 each. Those show as being 8 volt...I hope they're not for your motorhome!

RE: Best price for Trojan T-105's...?

Well I only want 4 of them, and I was hoping to get them for around $100 US each. That is probably not realistic though.

Best price for Trojan T-105's...?

What's the best price (preferably current) that anybody has been able to find for Trojan T-105 batteries?

RE: Swine Flu Vaccine

Have never had a flu shot, and won't be getting one anytime soon. I had a shot of whiskey instead.

RE: Getting rid of the onboard generator

Yes, I agree this idea will affect resale value, although our current thinking has us wanting to outfit the RV for OUR use, not for a future owners use. We will not miss the microwave, the A/C, the hair dryer or the curling iron. When we're camped out on a remote beach in Mexico, we do not care for those items. Our electricity usage is mostly lights and laptop. Although, I do understand the "emergency" or "lifesaver" issue of having a generator. Perhaps that problem would be solved by bringing along a small portable genset and battery charger unit. I'm thinking I could probably get $800 or so for the generator (or more?...not sure) and will probably spend $600 on another 80W solar panel and maybe $400 on batteries. So the money part of that equation is not really an issue.

Getting rid of the onboard generator

We are considering removing and selling our 5kw Kohler built in generator. We simply don't use it enough and find ourselves having to start it once a month or so just for the sake of running it. Can't stand generator noise, and won't miss not having it. We do a lot of dry camping and I'm thinking I will just use that compartment for a better battery setup, and maybe I'll add another solar panel or two. Anybody done this?

RE: MARKS RV & TRUCK SALES... TERRIBLE!!!!

Sounds to me like there was a disagreement and that caused the salesman to become a little "vulgar", shall we say. Probably no excuse, but I've had a lot of customers in my life who I would have liked to have said those words to. Maybe this guy just said what needed to be said.

RE: MARKS RV & TRUCK SALES... TERRIBLE!!!!

"I am not here posting these things to slander any business." We don't know that until we hear the other side of the story. All I'm saying is that it's not fair to post these things without being able to hear the other side. Because there's ALWAYS two sides...

RE: Battery Condition Meter

I spent the monitor money on more battery and LED lights. Battery seems to last forever now....The full on monitors are way better but I don't see the need for me. That's a good point. Having a very good idea of what my usage is, I'd rather spend the money on another battery or two.

RE: Tom Raper RV service - AVOID

I guess from reading these responses you can tell why service is so crappy today. People are willing to accept the unacceptable. That certainly wasn't what I was getting at. I want to know why the OP would rather complain here than complain to the service manager.
