RE: cable to Sat.

We have the Dish "America's Everything" package with four solo DVR receivers in the house and a dual tuner DVR in the RV. That runs about $135/month including locals and the sports package. We had DirecTV before, then moved to Dish when DirecTV dropped VS.

RE: Daylight savings time yea or nay

I never "got" the whole DST thing and living in AZ most of my life, I don't have to :)

RE: This antenna VS. This antenna help please

We do watch a lot of TV and a tripod setup is a good choice for us. We have an automatic dish, but use the tripod anyway. With a Dish 1000 satellite dish and 722 dual tuner receiver, we can watch different channels when we want, HD, DVR...just like at home. Sure, it's less expensive, but it's a better option anyway. We go out in the winter, and it's nice to be able to just walk out and brush off snow with the tripod mounted dish.

RE: Just Had a Good Laugh

There's a reason I bought a class A. I'm one of those who has zero skills backing a trailer. I can back a 40' class A into a pretty snug site with no effort. In the photo below, the backup camera was out and I still got it right where I wanted it. If it was a trailer, I'd still be trying to get it parked. A man's gotta know his limitations :)

RE: New to Forum

Welcome to the neighborhood. If you get up to Anacortes, WA you might try Pioneer Trails. We spent a week there and really liked it.

RE: Storage Lot Cost

We're building a garage so the RV is being temporarily stored off-site. The cost is $60/month with a security guard living on site, water and dump station.

RE: Passport USA?????

We received the PA rate for 2 weeks and saved the cost of the 3 yr membership in just this one stop.We had a similar experience, except the rate applied to one week. It was enough to cover a 3 year membership. We had a one year membership initially and let it lapse. Soon after the expiration, we were heading to a PA park and the savings were enough to cover 3 years. It didn't take a rocket scientist to do the math. If you're going to a PA park anyway, it's common sense to buy the membership.

RE: PROPANE

Most RV dealers sell propane. There are also plenty of propane companies who will deliver if you need it while setup somewhere. PS: Turn the caps lock off.

RE: Anyone have buyers regret?

Our first was getting a bit "narrow" after spending time in it. There was one living room slide out and one bedroom slide out. It wasn't too bad, but more width was something we wanted in our second. The first one was really our training wheels, something to get our feet wet, so I wouldn't call it buyer's regret. We learned the ropes some, and learned what was important to us. It seems like you can research all you want, but until you live with it, there are things that you'll overlook. The first coach had an oven that we never used. A microwave/convection oven is fine. The extra storage space is more important. The added width of the new one is appreciated as are things like LCD TV2, a fireplace, automatic leveling, etc. Lessons learned in the first coach were applied to the second purchase. I don't see us moving from this one any time soon.

RE: dish and sat 128

A single LNB dish should work on 129.

RE: Is it possible to use laptop to watch tv ?

My HP came with a simple antenna that works pretty well. The antenna doesn't pick up as many channels as a rooftop would, but the channels it picked up were clear.

RE: The Definition of Insanity

I was essentially using a new hard drive, deleting the recovery partition and then creating a new partition using the full drive size. There is a possibility that the DVD drive might be a weak link and was causing the problems. It hasn't had any problems before and didn't when I installed Win7 RC1 a few months ago. I also have a newer HP laptop with an 18" screen and Win7 installed flawlessly on that one.

RE: Class A shopping is stressful

You might poke around eBay. For example, I saw this 07 Allegro Bay with a "buy it now" of $108,000. There are 21 Tiffins listed now. We ended up buying new since most of the used MHs I found were listed for as much or more than we paid. The excise tax might be a pain, but at least you have a warranty with a new one.

The Definition of Insanity

...is doing the same thing repeatedly, expecting a different outcome. Sometimes though, there is a different outcome. I have an HP dv2000 laptop that was originally running Vista, then Windows 7 RC1 with no problems. I tried to upgrade it with a purchased Windows 7 Premium. The upgrade was not allowed since RC1 was Win7 Ultimate. I tried re-installing the original Vista disk and it failed with an error message about being unable to run winload.exe. I tried wiping the HD and installing Win7 Premium and it failed too, while expanding files. Finally, after several failures, I bought an external drive caddy to see what was going on with the drive. It was partitioned to 24GB & 125GB. I repartitioned the drive to a single partition, then tried installing Vista again. No luck and it was back to the two partitions, so I used the external caddy again to put it back to one partition. This time I tried installing Win7 again. It failed. I tried it again and it failed, but later in the installation. So, I tried it again and it worked! Then it was time to enter the product key...nope. You can't enter the key if the upgrade is installed on a system without a previous version already installed. Then I read that you can leave the key blank and re-install Win7 upgrade over Win7 upgrade. This took a couple of attempts, but it finally installed and accepted the key. I have no idea why the installations kept failing. Memory and drive tests all passed with no errors. I've been using the computer all day, installing things etc. and there haven't been any problems. Sometimes you can do the same thing over and over, and expect a different result :)

RE: Trade In Offers

If sales tax is a consideration, your state may tax the difference between the new coach and the trade. If you sell it yourself, you'll need to get enough to cover the additional tax to make it worthwhile.

RE: Satellite dish set up wanted

If you were at home, I'd say to swing by and I could give you a tripod and dish I'm not using since I switched to Dish.

RE: Tire Hits Airbag (with pictures)

I was expecting to see pictures of a blowout that hit the air bags. The good news is that it only rubs when the wheel is turned a lot, something you'd only do at low speed.

RE: Microsoft Flight or Train Simulator

I've been a flight sim nut for 20 years or so. In the past few years I started do add-ons for FS9 and FSX with photo based scenery and buildings. The biggest one was Tucson, a scenery that covers most of Pima County, AZ (about 90 miles x 70 miles). This is a screen shot of downtown Tucson: http://www.kb-sim.com/sitebuilder/images/Pima006-600x357.jpg I've done several other photo sceneries, mainly places we've lived or take the motorhome to, like Bellingham, WA; Show Low, AZ; Salem, OR etc. My setup for flying includes a TRC472 (a fully functional Cessna 172 panel) and a projector with a 7' screen. One of the beauties of FS is that there are so many freeware and payware additions available.

RE: Late May weather for Tucson?

Here's a link to TWC's averages. You can expect to see highs near 100. There generally isn't much rain until the monsoons start later in the summer.
