RE: Bummer, loose water line wreaks havock!

always turn off pump if leaving and shut off city water if full hook up. Never had a major problem but knowing how these things are built(finger tight supply line to toilet) why tempt fate.
thats the truth.. So many connections in my 06 were just barley tight enough not to leak.

RE: Water under floor

the water is running down the ouside of the walls from the rain but when it gets to the bottom it does not drip straight down it goes across the bottom of the floor about 2 inches, thats why i think it where its getting in cause where the holes are from the bolts is in the same area.
I might take a picture tonight and post
Also im not sure if this makes any differance but its an Ultra lite trailer so there is nothing in the floor. I am not sure how its build but it looks like a 1/8 sheet all across the bottom. then the tarp under it. There must be somthing in between but not sure what.
I believe coroplast is the plastic that signs are made out of. This is exactly like a tarp black on the bottom and grey on top.
I have seen that tarp material on a 2003 flagstaff 23' also. The water was also running down the sides and then in some spots trickling across the underbelly.

RE: See How A Diesel Engine Runs On Vegetable Oil

I don't see why people refuse to believe that a diesel can run on vegetable oil. That is what the first diesel ran on. I hate getting behind someone burning it.Makes me spend way to much money at fast food joints. Also takes me longer to get where I am going.
haha same here.

RE: IOTA 45/55 amp converter acting up.

is there something else that I can test check? I was pretty mad when I noticed this when dry camping and running the generator for 1 hour and I was not charging :-(
You have a 2006, so you HAVE those screws and the fuses CANNOT be removed without loosening those screws. So, if you have removed the fuses without unscrewing the screws, then your converter is damaged. I work on RV's (also Jayco's) for a living and the screws are there. If the fuses are attempted to be removed without the screws loosened, you break the contacts to the fuse holder. Doug
Guys im talking about the screws behind the faceplate. I cant see how these are held in by screws. There the reverse polarity 30 amp green blade type.
edit: I just pulled the whole converter out so I can see behind it and the 12v fuse panel. It seems as if I fixed my problem just removing the fuses and re inserting them. :?
thanks for your help

RE: IOTA 45/55 amp converter acting up.

From the Iota manual----
The IOTA Battery Charger/Power Supply is protected
against reverse polarity on the DC output. If a battery
or the unit is hooked up incorrectly, the fuses will blow
and can be easily replaced. Always use the same size
and style fuse that came with the converter. To change
the fuses, use a screwdriver to loosen the screws
and remove the fuses. Always replace the fuses with
the same type and rating. After inserting the new
fuses, tighten the screws firmly. Apply 5 inch-pound
maximum torque. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN.
So, are you using the screws that secure the fuses? If not, that is your problem as if you do not tighten the fuse screws, the fuses do not make a good connection. Doug
Hi Doug, The 2 30amp fuses just slip into the converters panel just like every other 15 amp fuse thats in there.

RE: IOTA 45/55 amp converter acting up.

How do you Know this?
Sam
I have a 12v low battery meter. I forgot the name of it. it was reading 12.20 volts. THen when I mess with the polarity fuses it sparks to life jumping to its normal 13.20v

THink a relay is stuck or somehting? I did not touch anything to make this start happening.

RE: just bought a 75 watt solar panel used.. is it too old?

black on "COM" - red on "10A" - meter on the capitol "A" - set up like this, you can read up to 10 amps (typically it would tolerate a little bit more before blowing the fuse)
I seldom "short circuit" electrical sources, but it's done. The meter will handle the full output of the panel with room to spare. It should read a little higher than 4 amps, may read as high as 5 amps "directly across the leads" (hold it there only briefly)
NOTE: DON'T DO THIS on any other voltage source, ESPECIALLY NOT a vehicle starting battery or power company source - a solar panel is one exception to using a "current meter" directly across the power output leads - small aa batteries (or similar) might be another exception, but shorting them, runs them down very quickly)
Remember to also check the output voltage - you're expecting 22 volts on a bright sunny day with a decent meter (which you have)
Thanks I did not have a nice sunny day before we left for camping. Were here now and I saw 13v inside the camper with the panel connected directly to 2 12v batteries. Thanks so much.

RE: just bought a 75 watt solar panel used.. is it too old?

I guess testing out OK it might be about right. It's still a 14 15 year old panel. On the other hand, it IS made by Siemens, a very good panel builder with lots of experience. I guess I would be checking it for "continuity of output." Some panels, when heated quite hot by the sun, might drop output or even open. But if it puts out 4 amps all day, I might buy several more having a specific application for them. I doubt you'd be able to touch a quality new panel for that price.
Yeah I did notice that its pretty well made as you said. I was going to buy on off Ebay made in china. I have no doubts that this is a wekk made panel.
Edit: also how can I test for the amp output? Im using a friends Fluke meter. Do you know what I need to turn the knob too?
I think it looks like this one

thanks for the comments guys. Im going to test it tomorrow in full sun hopefully :-)
150$ is pretty cheap for this panel then right ? I have a chance to buy another from the guy.

just bought a 75 watt solar panel used.. is it too old?

Hey guys, I just bought a used Siemens solar panel off a craigslist seller. It seems to work great but I noticed that the date on the thing is 15-95 Im guessing the 15th day in 1995?
is this too old ? I thought these panels have a limited life? 20 years or so. the panel is putting out 17-19v on a rainy day. I ran a small handheld CB radio of it with no problem.. though it did not have the power to transmit that good (low batt warning light lit up)
