RE: Carriage Compass 34CK3

A much more active Carriage forum, with over 1500 members, is the one hosted by Yahoo. Try http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/Carriage_RV/ Good luck, Fred

RE: Yellowstone after Labor Day

we're there right now and the park is BUSY. We are staying in Fishing Bridge and it's been full every night. The restaurants and parking lots all over are very busy. Maybe it used to slow down after Labor Day, but not this year!

RE: soft spot on 09 Carrilite tpo roof

I forgot to mention, you don't need to go to a Carriage dealer, they are very good at authorizing others to do warranty work.

RE: soft spot on 09 Carrilite tpo roof

Is it a bubble where the roofing material has lifted from the plywood underneath? Or is it a soft spot in the plywood. If it's just lifted, I think that happens and is nothing to be concerned about. We have a number of them and the roof is fine after almost 4 years. If it's soft underneath however, get to a dealer. It should be covered under warranty. Good luck,

RE: Carriage Fifth Wheels

We've been living in our Cameo for almost 4, virtually trouble free years, and the few issues we've had have been handled to our satisfaction. The roofing material is excellent, we've never had a black streak. The windows were changed after we got ours and there has been some dissatisfaction with some windows not opening. There is a very active Carriage owners group and I would suggest that you join it and see what the owners think of their Carriages. Good luck, BTW, you will probably need a 450 to tow a Carri Lite.

RE: 2008 Carriage Cameo - $42K Decent Price?

Sounds like a deal. We have a similar model and paid $64K new in 2006 which was 25% off list. We've been living in our Cameo for almost 4 years and LOVE it. Great product and great company. Good luck,

RE: Taming a 5er ride

We have a Mor-Ryde pin box and it totally eliminates chucking. http://www.morryde.com/php/products/pinbox/index.php I don't know what they cost aftermarket, ours came as an option on the trailer. Good luck,

RE: CO2 alarm

Our CO detector has gone off erroneously a few times in about 4 years. I say erroneously, because for it to trigger legitimately there has to be a source of combustion to form CO, and both times there was nothing burning - furnace, stove. Both times we vented the house as a precaution and hit the reset. I never could figure what set it off, but off course you have to treat it as potentially life threatening.

RE: Park Reviews : Am I the only one this happened to ...

We've reviewed over 160 campgrounds in the last 3+ years and have never had one edited. They may have some problems, but I think the reviews on there are a LOT more creditable than Trailer Life or Woodalls. I wouldn't stay at any campground without checking RV Park Reviews.

RE: High end trailers

Tom, Sorry for your problems, but they sound kind of minor to me. I have the feeling that it's pretty hard to please you, but I hope you get to enjoy your Cameo eventually as much as we have ours. Good luck,

RE: Stipends for volunteers

I think the thought is you're traveling anyway and they offer you free hookups in return for minimal work effort. You have to judge if it's worthwhile for you. Needless to say, if travel is an issue you have to look for opportunities near you.

RE: Need to know how to Bank

We use the local bank we had before we went full time, and do all our banking online. We hardly ever use an ATM to get money, it's much easier to get it as "cash back" when we use our debit card at any super market or Walmart. Banking all over is absolutely painless.

RE: High end trailers

As far as I'm concerned you can scratch "Carriage" off the list!!!! My wife and I just bought a brand new Cameo Aug. 2008. We thought we were buying a "High Quality"---"High End" Rig!!!! SO FAR IT'S BEEN EVERYTHING BUT!!!! A total of 9 factory discrepencies!!!! Sorry to hear that. What were your problems? We've been living in our Cameo for over 3 years now and couldn't be happier. Have you talked to the factory? Good luck,

RE: Fifth wheel chinese tires are great performers

A Les Schwabb dealer in California sold me some Freestar steel belted radials when my original tires started to delaminate and I have over 30,000 miles on them without any problems. Nothing is all bad or all good from anywhere.

RE: Can a family spend 2 months on the road in a 32' Cameo?

6 people in an RV for an extended period is up to the family dynamics not the trailer size, 32 or 42, they all will feel small. I'm more concerned with pulling a 32' Cameo with a F250. I think you will be way over the towing limits of the truck.

RE: Cameo Grey Holding Tank

I belong to the Carriage group on Yahoo and there have been occasional reports of tank leakage, but it's definitely not common. You should definitely contact your dealer.

RE: Websites - Diesel Fuel

There's no problem in finding diesel in Canada, but you will find, especially as you get north that there aren't a lot of choices and they are sometimes 50 - 100 miles apart.

RE: Have you ever bleached the white supply hose?

In 3 years on the road I've never bleached anything and everything is just fine. Where is all this contamination coming from do you think?

RE: Washer and Dryer

I would consider the Kenmore stacked 120 volt washer dryer. They are apartment sized and will fit in most RV's with room for stacked units. You cannot wash and dry at the same time due to electical constraints but you can get service almost anywhere and Kenmores do last forever. We have the Kenmores stacked and often wash and dry at the same time. All you need is 50 amp service.
