RE: Tips

I never noticed the tips before until you mentioned it. I just read the two tips that were on the side of your post and found them very informative and useful. You must be a real complainer or know it all if you can't use a little useful advice from an expert on the subject every once in a while. This forum provides a lot of info for users and this tip feature looks like a winner for me. Leave them alone and leave them in place. I vote yes for tips.

RE: Adding Extend-A-Stay Valve to propane tank

On my 01 Itasca Suncruiser the tank regulator is hard plumbed to the tank so no way to add the extend a stay to my rig. I had to go to a propane store and purchase another regulator for the spare tank and then hook into the system downstream of the onboard tank regulator.

RE: 5000 Pound Hitch

Its the damage and loss of life to the people on the road behind you that I would worry about when your hitch fails and you kill someone.

RE: Need help from a Winnebago Yoda...

That switch is for the electric element in your water heater. You can run it on LP or electric or both if you want a fast recovery for a second shower or a long shower. Flip it on and it will draw about 15 amps so if you have a 30amp coach you may not have enough overhead to use it with the A/C on.

RE: Mr. Melonis comes thru again.

I was debating on whether or not to renew my Presidents Club membership, but after I've read the posts with Mr Lemonis personally getting involved I've made a decision to renew. Camping World is a company that I will continue to do business with in the future. This kind of upper management getting involved at the consumer level means they are working to become the best they can. Sure, some stores might still need improvement, but there are bad apples in all companies. I will pay a premium to get service and respect from a company that cares rather than just the cheapest price in a plain brown box from the internet discounters.

RE: problems with Camping World

Just a note to those who say you pay shipping on line. You forget that you do not pay sales tax on most online sales. You pay tax when you purchase at the store. When you add that in online pricing still beats there store pricing.
This is an incorrect statement, if there is a brick and mortar store in the state you are shipping to, then you must pay the sales tax for that state. Since CW has a location in most states you will pay tax.

RE: Camping World EZ Pay Rip off

Sounds like the same deal with all store cards not just CW. You will find the same thing with Home Depot, Lowes, & Best Buy. Especially now that the govt got involved to help us consumers with credit cards and then postponed the effective date almost a year. Now all the banks are raising their interest rates so they can beat the law before it takes effect. Also, make sure you pay off the $800 in the 12 months or you will have to pay the interest for the entire year on that $800.

RE: Always looking for feedback and constructive thoughts

I find it interesting to see so many bash the Presidents Club but blindly pay your membership fee to Costco and Sam's Club. I too would like a discount without joining the PC, but membership has its privileges. Sam's Club and Costco won't even let you in the door if you aren't a member. CW will let you browse and buy. I use to visit the Bolingbrook IL store once a month for supplies before it was closed and always found the customer service to be great. The manager would always give me a lower advertised price and honor internet only specials. Things that I didn't like is how I was nickled and dimed for disposable items in the shop like rag charges. Now, that the nearest CW is more than a 3 hour drive from Memphis I probably will not renew my PC membership because the shipping charges are a little too high. It would be nice to offer alternative shipping options.

RE: Is Graceland worth the trip?

If you go, don't stay near Graceland, very bad neighborhood. If you go south of Graceland on Rt51(Elvis Presly Blvd)into Mississippi you'll find a nice Yogi Bear park that has very friendly people and plenty of activities, plus cook outs and Yogi.

RE: Electric mystery???

Your lights are on the 12 volt bus. Check those fuses or breakers, they are usually located in a different location than the 120 volt breakers. Also, make sure the bulbs are inserted correctly, if not inserted all the way or correctly they could be shorting out that circuit affecting the rest of your lights on that circuit.

RE: Aiming satelite unsucessfully

When your using a 3 lnb dish there is alot more involved than just pointing the dish. YOu have to set elevation, tilt, and azimuth. Depending on the age of that dish you will need the multi-switch to have it work properly, if the dishes three lnbs are molded together the multiswitch is built in if they are separate you will need the multiswitch. If your tilt and elevation are not set correctly based on the zip code you are in than the signal you are receiving on you sat finder is probably not the correct satellite. To find the correct settings you need to turn on your sat receiver, goto setup and select satellite dish setup, set it for 3 lnb oval dish and input the local zip code. The receiver should then give you the tilt, elevation, and azimuth setting you need. Now take your wrench and set the tilt and elevation on the dish. Grab your compass and aim the dish to the azimuth setting and then fine tune with the sat locator and you should be good to go.

RE: Boost Mobile?

Boost mobile uses the iden network just like nextel phones. If you are in large population areas or on major interstate highways you will have great coverage. Otherwise their coverage sucks. I am a pilot and fly all over the US. I used to have Nextel but dropped them because at least 40% of the time I would be somewhere that didn't have coverage. Stay away from boost unless your travels are always to population areas with more than 100,000 people.

Atwood Water Heater Problem!!

Hey Everyone,
I have an Atwood GCH10A-3E model water heater. This is a combination type 10 gallon water heater that has Gas, Electric, and Heat Exchange from the engine. This unit has worked great up to today. Lately I've been using the gas to heat up the water to save on electricity since I'm on a metered site and the gas heats the water up so much faster and gives me overhead on my EMS system so both compressors on the A/C can run if needed. This morning when I turned on the water heater switch, the green on light came on and instantly the red pilot out light came on. There was no gas turning on and no sound of ignition that I would normally hear. The pilot light out light usually would only illuminate if the pilot light had gone out after initial ignition. This water heater has electric ignition and there was no noise of it engaging. The electric heating element came on fine and heated the water just fine. LP tank shows 2/3 full and I verified gas in tank by turning on a stove burner. I thought it might be the thermal cut off but it looked fine and I bypassed it and still the same thing. I don't know if the circuit board has gone bad or if the gas valve has failed. Something I noticed yesterday, is that after my shower in the morning I smelled I very faint smoke smell up in the front of the RV but it was so faint I didn't think about it at the time. I usually shut the water heater off after my shower since I'm the only one in the camper and no need to heat water all day. If anybody has run into this or has some knowledge to pass on I'm ready for some suggestions.

RE: RV Storage in Memphis, TN area (Arlington)

RGordon thanks for that heads up, that is actually only about 2 miles from where the new house will be. I called the general store and got their number and also googled them but they don't answer the phone. I will be in that area on Thursday so I will try an in person visit. Even if I can't get under the roof sections the convenience to home would be great.

RE: Paint jobs

One item to think of is weight. I was quite surprised how much weight is added to the MH or trailer with a paint job. It adds up to several hundred pounds.
We have a Jayco Seneca 2009 with the optional paint job. I like the paint job and am willing to give up some towing weight.
LOL Your kiding right? :R
Most of the weight of a gallon of paint is solvents. As the paint drys they disapate away leaving very little weight. If you don't belive me sand all the paint off of a motorhome and tell us how many hundreds of pounds it weighs. :S
While this statement is true, the paint does still have weight not enough to cause a loading problem. An example of weight savings by not painting is American Airlines. They save millions of dollars a year in fuel costs by not doing a full body paint and just putting on stripes.

RV Storage in Memphis, TN area (Arlington)

Hey Everyone,
I am just completing a move to Arlington, TN which is on the Northeast side of Memphis. Looking for a storage lot for a Class A motor home that isn't too far away. I've been living in my rig in Horn Lake, MS across the border from Memphis for the last 8 months but have now found a house in Arlington and would like to store the rig closer to my new location. Horn Lake is about a 45 minute drive. If anyone knows of a good storage location near Bartlett, Arlington, Millington, or Lakeland please post.
Thanks for your help.

RE: Hooking up tow vehicle

A nice trick to make sure you are centered behind your motorhome is to turn on the toads headlights and watch their reflection on the back of the coach. As far as distance good old trial and error until you can judge the distance from experience.

RE: Length of term on RV loan...

Yes they will, you have to go with a lender that specializes in RV or boat financing. Go to the Good Sam Finance center on their website. They will match you with a lender.
