RE: Winter in Arizona

I will put a vote in for Tombstone Territorties RV Park, we have spent the winter here and the weather has mostly been warm, although there are some cool nights for sure, nights are mostly cool, some below freezing temps mid December to Jan, but the days warm up very nicely. People in the area are great, many activities at the park, from Jam Sessions, presentations, entertainers, organized trips to nearby attractions and much more. The park is immaculately kept, laundry is spotless. The park has good sized lots, 40' x 80', a pool, hot tub, library, walking trails and a great staff. We plan on returning here next winter. As the previous poster stated there are many attractions to see, shopping is close but the park is peaceful away from heavy traffic, no trains! This winter has been fantastic!

RE: Reservations for Arizona Winter

Blackstar, I searched for this post so we could thank you for your recommendation. We arrived Nov 4th at Tombstone Territories RV Park and are staying until March 17th. We love this park, the staff and the area, a great place to spend the winter. There has been some snow in the mountains but nothing on the ground so far. The nights can be cool but warms up very quick in the morning, most days have been in the 70's to 80's, today was 82. The park is so well kept, many activities every week, planned excursions to many places we would not have found on our own, bird watching, ATV riding, Horseback riding, Christmas Eve Sing-A-Long, Christmas dinner, New Year's Eve Party breakfast buffets, lots of musical entertainment, Jam Sessions every Friday night, Information sessions every Tuesday mornings, no cost for most of the actvities and donations accepted for some. They have an exchange library, heated indoor pool, hot tub, exercise equipment, games afternoons and evening, Watercize, walking trails and so much more! I just cannot say enough this park, the owner and staff of this park. We have booked for next year already and so have many people who spent time here. We have made good friends and enjoy being here so much. Thanks again Blackstar.

RE: Cell phone boosters?

Thank you for the information, we do have signal and have good signal some of the time, the signal tends to come and go, i.e. we pick up the phone to make a call and have no signal, will drop in the middle of a call sometimes and we are told that our conversation is choppy at times. We were thinking a cell phone signal booster might help. We will check out your suggestions.

Cell phone boosters?

Our cell phone reception is not great where we are parked in AZ or our camphost park in Alberta, Canada so my question is what boosters can you suggest for better reception? We have a dish for internet so not concerned with internet, just cell phones. We use Tracfone while in the United States, do not have an issue with it in many parts of the States but we are parked in the mountains in AZ so not good reception and Telus while in Alberta and the same problem there, just an issue where we camphost, other areas we travel in we have no problem so thinking a some kind of booster would be a benefit. Thank you for all ideas and/or suggetions.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Wow I have not been here in awhile (bought a new computer and had a time getting all "stuff" transferred and working)and so much has happened!! Richard I was so happy to read the post where you finally managed to get the last dog, "Shadow", what a great man you are, you have the patience and persistence that few people have. I agree with the posters that mentioned you have a wonderful wife also that obviously shares your love of animals. Good Luck to you and Sue and hope the Vet check turns out well. God Bless you and Sue!

RE: How cheap can you live???

Interesting post and answers, we find the big cost to us is travelling from Alberta to a warm spot for the winter, other than that costs are very reasonable for the time we are parked and sightseeing in an area of our choice. We camphost in Alberta for 6 months, free site and get paid for our services. It is close to some of our family, great site and we totally enjoy our time there and do enjoy travelling come fall to a warm area. Once we have settled in our Winter home expenses are around $2700.00 per month. I know there are many people that do it cheaper and those that spend more. We stay put so get a good deal for park but spend money where others would not for our personal needs or probably should say more wants that needs! Safe travels and enjoy however you decide to do it!

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

"Sue and I had a long talk on the way home and she has convienced me to start in January to write the book "A Very Old Stray, The Old Fella Story." Sue believes that only I am capable of writing the real story filled with the emotion that will make it come to life." Dixie, I am very glad that she convince you! I had once mentioned in an old post that you had a way with words, and I was wondering why you did not write your own story. Others also suggested it before. Experiences makes a writer more credible; you cannot write of a special love relationship without having been there. Sue is totally right! Wishing you the inspiration and the time needed in 2009 to tell the beautiful story we had a chance to share by this never ending post! and to all of you, best wishes for 2009, health, love, safe travels and hugs to all fur kids. Silverdunes, Belgrizou and Elgato (the stay@home cats...for now) I agree Silverdunes! Richard looks like you will have a very busy year and we will certainly buy the book! Congrats on winning the Good Sam Award, could not happen to a better person. Happy New Year to all! Have a safe, healthy, happy year!

RE: Almost ready for Benson, AZ

Benson is a pretty central location for southern AZ. Plenty of great exploration; Chiricahua Nat. Monument, Coronado Mtns., Tombstone/Bisbee/Douglas areas, Sierra Vista, Huachuca Mtns. and our favorite birding spot - Ramsey Canyon. All these, and much more, an easy day trip from Benson! We are in Tombstone Territories RV Park about 30 miles from Benson, 10 miles from Tombstone, 20 miles from Sierra Vista, we love the whole area, there is so much to see and enjoy withn a short distance, we are hopeful that we can return next winter. As you said it might cool off at night but sure warms up during the day. The last 2 days the temps have been in the high 70's. Do enjoy and maybe we can get together while your in Benson!
