Our poodle Sweetie has fur and she doesn't shed. Neither did the other 2 we had before her. She doesn't shed but boy does she have fits when she has to be groomed.. Our groomer from our other poodle indicated she wasn't thrilled about grooming her so we do it our selves. I hold and DH trims.

I had a Siberian Husky, I could have made a mattress and a pillow with her hair.

Good Morning Furkids and Hoomans. It is beautiful fall morning, blue skies, bright sunshine, and 43*. All is good. Hope all the gang survived the holiday weekend and had a good time and no problems. Just don't share too much of the goodies with the furkids. Have a great upcoming week.

Dixie Flyer wrote: Went camping this weekend at a campground on the lake, had not been there for a few years. Once there I began to walk around looking at the different sites when I noticed a very old dog. He just lay there until I got too close then he got up on three legs and hobbled away. Just judging I would say he is at least 11 years old. Well back to my story. The next afternoon he wanders into camp and just sits there looking. He looked so sad, so the wife got a bowl of our dog's food and put it down for him and he came over and ate. He then walked over to our dog and the two of them sniffed each other over and then they lay down together for the rest of the afternoon. That night he disappeared.
The next morning he was back and was a little more receptive of me. I looked at his injured leg and found that half of his rear foot was gone. It had healed and was not causing any problem except that he was walking on the stub that was left with no foot pad which causes him to limp. His front teeth were gone except for one canine tooth and it looked decayed. His eyes were tired looking and showing his age. He spent the rest of the day just laying around looking for a handout and by afternoon the campground host came around and saw him. I enquired about the dog and was told he had been there for three years and that most of the campers were tolerant of him and gave him food.
So what to do? Do you pick him up and bring him home or do you let nature take it course. He can't harm anyone, he has no teeth and he isn't a nuisance unless you don't like dogs, and no one seems to mind him being there. He is gentle and likes other animals as seen by his interaction with our dog. He still would not let me touch him but he would eat from my hand. Enough said, what would you do???
On June 28th 2008 Old Fella passed away of complications caused by bone cancer. Fella spent almost three years with his new family and became the icon of rescued old stray dogs. He will be greatly missed but his foot prints have been left in our hearts forever.
Now Charlie, the ten year old rescued Golden Lab has come to be a part of the continuing Old Fella story. (*Note, Charlie took his journey to Rainbow Bridge unexpectedly September 30, 2008)Suzie continues to charm her way into our hearts with her antics as she has grown from a puppy into a young lady. Togther they will carry on the Old Fella legacy. Come join us in their daily lives and be a part of the best feel good thread in RV.NET history. The legacy lives on.

I was watching Dogs 101 about malamutes (Wolfie is part malamute) and heard the term "Blow their coats" - it is so true! I don't know if it's referring to wind or not, but there are puffs of fur floating around all the time when it gets windy! And boy does it get everywhere - I'm restaining our deck and found lots of dog hair stuck in the cracks!
Yesterday was my birthday and my husband suggested I do my favorite thing - go to dog beach! It's about 2 hours away, but boy is it worth it! The dogs are allowed off leash and they just have a great time! I called my cousin who lives nearby and he brought his german shepard to join us. Although, his girl, Annie, just had cancer surgery to remove a tumor from the anal gland, his vet says that type of cancer has an 80% chance of spreading, so now poor Annie is having chemotherapy. She was alittle subdued at the beach, but seemed to enjoy herself. The choice was once a week chemo or 5 days a week radiation for 4 weeks wherein she'd have to be put "under" every time. I felt bad for my cousin, who is a single man and she is his companion. He said that he didn't like the idea of her being put under everyday for so long. He went with the chemo and hopes that she'll be okay. Annie is 9yrs old. I hate it when dogs get old. I had to give Wolfie an aspirin when we got home last night and he's still exhausted today! But he does have a smile on his face!
Please pray for Annie! (And my cousin!) I know prayers from FOOF's work!

Thank you Richard. Had a scary experience yesterday. I took Wolfie to the vet because he kept licking himself in the rear. The vet did an anal gland flush and had to sedate Wolfie. During the procedure, he asked my husband and I to come in and see (YUCK!). When he gave Wolfie the drug to wake him up - HE DIDN'T WAKE UP!!!! It was scary, then he gave him alittle more and Wolfie was awake. Boy was he awake - it was like he had too much caffiene! I was afraid he'd have a heart attack! I think the vet may have gotten nervous that we were standing over the dog when he didn't wake up and gave him too much??
Wolfie was a "space cadet" all afternoon.
He's resting calmly now, so all is well.

The bricks for the walk way came in today, so I hope by next week we can start and finish the project. What I saw looked very nice as I opened one of the boxes containing the bricks and found each one wrapped separately from the others to keep them from being damaged.
I got my pre-opt done today for the surgery scheduled for Thursday morning. I hope this one will be the one that works. The Doctor was very optimistic Monday and believes this one will be a winner. Boy Mama is sure full of energy and mischief lately. This morning as I was trying to put my socks on she would grab the sock as I started to put my toes in it and run away from me throwing it about with her head. She feels so good and just loves to be around Sue and I so much. Last night as I watched the football game she got on the couch with me and laid her head in my lap, she didn’t move for three hours. Izzie usually likes to get on my tummy and sleep, but last night every time he would make a move to get there Mama let him know it wasn’t his turn yet.
It’s so strange about how things happen. When I went to the hospital today the nurse that helped me was a lady from Waynesboro that I have known for the past twenty seven years. Here she is all grown up with children. When I had a photography studio her mother would bring her and her sister in for pictures. Now they are both in the medical field and doing well. She asked me if I wanted to sell my camper as she and her husband had been looking at it as they drove by. “Hummmm” I said, Tell your husband to call me. If that works out there may be a new camper in our future?
