Retired 2 years ago as a Fire Capt. after 32 years with Cal Dept of Forestry and Fire Protection. 23 years with as a volunteer Fire Capt. Plus retired after 21 years in the US Air Force Reserve

Retired Captain....33 years full time - got use to sleeping in the same bed but the toes and nose still follow when an engine and truck goes by. Been certifiable for a lot of years.

20 Year volli. on Long Island New York. Ex Chief (youngest Chief Mattituck's ever had, out by 30)
Ex Commissioner,
Past President Southold Town Fire Chief Council.
Ex Captain Engine Co.,
Ex Captain rescue squad (ambulance chaser).
Currently assigned to the new truck company. The wanted some older guys in the new truck.
Member of the Scuba team both Police and Fire (I get Overtime for the Police, just call me a dive whore).
EMT for 20 years, AEMT for 3 years.
Now I'm a cop, the gun is a lot lighter then a nozzle. I'm still active with the FD

Former FF/Medic, trashed out my knee on a fire, had four surgeries and tons of rehab, they still couldn't salvage the knee enough to return to duty. So, I returned to college and was a social worker for 12 years, now I work in a library...still miss the job every day.

5 years + as a volunteer firefighter/first responder paramedic until a friend of my son bought it a block from our home and I was one of the first on the scene. Took years to get over that one.

24 years volunteer. Presently Chief of all volunteer dept. with 400 square miles of first response area. We have been out on 2 brush fires this week due to lightning.

Calling ALL Firefighters . . . .
"WE" are taking some HEAT (along with cops) on the "Around the Campfire"
forum. See: "Cops buy donut shop"
Of course if you make more than $250,000. to $300,000. on the job,
or retired - you probably shouldn't chime in!
On edit: Looks like the Mods couldn't stand the heat - shut it down.
