I'm confused, abused and plum tired trying to GET IT RIGHT the first time with these.

After reading all your posts I'm leaning towards canceling my original order and have them order the Tubo/Maxx.

PLEASE, Correct me if I'm wrong here, my appt is for tomorrow!

Turbo/Maxx has: a thermostat, reverse fan, 3 speeds.
QUIETER than the FF, right?
I'm 'all about' quiet mechanical things in my MH.

It goes over your existing vent with an add on control module.
Picture not clear,
Does it have a screen over the fan?
Do they have to drill holes in frame inside to mount module?

This one right?

Thanks for any help here, so I get it right the first time.

It is quieter because the fan is outside the trailer and not right there in the vent.

Yes, it goes right on over the existing vent. It does have a screen over the end so bugs, leaves etc cannot get in.

Yes, you drill small holes in the frame surrounding the existing fan or vent. You can download the install instruction here to see what is involved. It is a very simple install. I did it myself with no problem at all. If you do not have a fan in the vent opening now, you will have to fish a wire from a nearby light fixture for the power. That would make the install a bit more difficult. If you do have a fan or light nearby then it is easy.

Yes, the one you have pictured is the one I had. See my link in previous post.

Thank you 'very' much for the links and your personal experience with these fans/vents.

I appreciated your tip that this one is quieter, that clinched it for me.

.....We had a MaxxAir Turbo Maxx on our last trailer and it was much better than the Fantastic Fans we have now. It was just as efficient but much quieter. Wish I had kept it when I traded it for our present trailer.Barney

Well they went in this morning. One Turbomaxx Fan up front and the Maxxair 2 cover on the rear of coach.

Thank you BarneyS for sharing your experience with the different brand fans.
The Turbomaxx 'IS' much quieter. I'm very happy with the set up.

That's one more item off on my check list before lift off.

The last one is waiting for them to finish the base plate on the toad and a back up camera, and I'm outta here.

I've used the one pictured for 6 years and it does great, no airflow restriction and love it. I can operate the fan on all 3 speeds. On MANY occasions I've used it to do a completer transfer of air out bringing i8n new fresh air from the outside and has worked like a charm.

I do remove the inside screen often to keep it clean. Dust and dirt will accumulate and then it will cause a restriction. I have found if you remove the interior screen it leads to the screen on the vent becoming dirty and THAT screen is a chore to clean. Works for me.

This is from Maxxair's Web Site

The Maxxair II is not designed to mount over a high powered ceiling fan. Maxxair still recommends using our FanMate products for that application. The only time we would recommend using a Maxxair II is if our FanMate does not fit due to space limitations. On some RV’s the high powered ceiling fan is located too close to a TV antenna or air conditioner and our FanMate simply will not fit. The screws that are provided with the Maxxair II will not work on a high powered ceiling fans; you would have to replace the screws supplied with the Maxxair II with #6 x ½” stainless steel self tapping screws.

Looks like all you need is some new screws

I have put that style of cover over a fantastic fan and it worked fine. I am sure if you measured it it would show that it cut the maximum air flow, but I never run it at maximum anyway.

Thanks Bumpy. I did notice that the vent won't open all the way. Heck, for $34 for two I think I'll give it a try

I just closed up all the windows on my MH so I could play with my new fan toy. You are right! I started the fan up in reverse and opened the back vent and it's like a giant breeze going thru the 'whole' MH.

I can see using this more than than air conditioning, which I can't take for very long anyway, I need air, fresh air.

Doesn't take much nowadays to make me happy now does it?
