Old Fella that started the thread a "Very Old Stray" and inspired a Nation to become more aware of old stray dogs went to Rainbow Bridge June 28,2008. His name and work will remain as long as people remember this old dog that spent five years in a South Carolina campground as a stray and emerged as an icon for all homeless dogs across this land. For two years and ten months he lived with Richard and Sue Daniels and inspired the start up of the only licensed animal rescue in Burke Couty, Georgia other than the city shelter. He was written up in Good Sam Club Highways Magazine twice and received numerous awards from the city of Waynesboro for his civic duties.

His loving memory will be memorialized in Waynesboro, Georgia with a statue in his honor in a newly constructed park in the heart of town. What a wonderful inspiration for all who have suffered loss and stayed the course to regain the love and admiration of all that knew him.

The 2009 Ohio Old Fella Rally will be held June 10th through June 14th at Evergreen Park RV Resort in outside Mt. Eaton on US 250. This is in the heart of Ohio Amish country. Evergreen RV Park
Sites have been reserved for this event and are already being booked. Sites available are: 10 through 20 and 32 through 35. Below are the sites and who are in them at this time. Roger and I were honored to host the First Annual Old Fella Rally in Branson, Missouri. Having always had rescues and/or runts as pets, this was our way of helping the Old Fellas of the world find homes. After meeting Richard, Sue, Levi, and Fella, and the FOOFs that attended that first rally, we knew a difference would be made.

After that first rally, we knew we had to do it again and were thrilled that Richard and Sue agreed to allow us to host the 2009 rally and they agreed to come to Ohio. We asked our friends Dan and Lori Branson to co-host it with us this time and they were equally as thrilled.

This post will be updated as the rally gets closer with dates and times of events (potlucks, tours, raffles and get-togethers).

We hope you will all consider attending this rally. Evergreen is a BEAUTIFUL campground and the staff is WONDERFUL. Not to mention, a great way to meet families with rescued fur kids and find out how you can make a difference.

See you next Spring!

The next time you pass a dumpster and see an old stray just remember that only through your grace and help will this animal survive. Everyday people will dump puppies by a dumpster out in the county thinking that they are doing some kind of good deed and that someone will pick them up and take them home. The odds of that happening are very little and the small helpless puppies most likely will die a horrible death.

Many adult dogs are left at dumpsters and they hang around waiting for their owners to come back to get them. They wait with sad eyes and a heavy heart hoping that each vehicle that stops is someone who will save them. They are shot at, screamed at and many times run over by passing vehicles.

Because of Old Fella many now are being saved, but the number of animals left at dumpsters and along side of the road still over whelm the rescue effort.
I do hope many will decide to attend this event in honor and memory of Old Fella. His work is not finished even though his life here on earth is done. He has inspired all of us who have been touched by his life and will continu to do so as long as his memory lives on. We can keep his spirit alive as long as we look forward into the future and see that the rescue effort continues for all the old strays that roam our streets, county roads and cities.

By attending this rally in honor of Old Fella we remember those lives that have been thrown away like trash and those who have been taken in by families and now have forever homes. Come to the Old Fella Rally in Ohio and help make a difference.

At this rally ideas will be presented as to how you can start a program in your home state, county, or city that will help save the lives of those animals that so desperately need your help.

I am hoping that we have a good turnout for the rally. I look forward to seeing all my friends from previous rallies and also to meeting new ones from this rally.

Rocky (my pup) will be with me, it is about 11 hour drive for me and I need someone to talk to. He doesn't talk but he sure is a good listener.
