Grillmeister,

I'm using the 15w-50 in my genset(3 years) as well as my commercial air-cooled lawn mower (15+ years). No problems, but I don't start either when it's below freezing.

The Mobil 1 Extended Performance that I use in my Onan 4KW is 15W-50W.

The "50W" part of this range is because we want ultimate reliability when it's most critical that our Onan not let us down - in extreme heat out in the middle of nowhere when absolutely needing to run the RV's air conditioner.

I put Valvoline synthetic in my Kipor from day one.

Watch the weight though. My Kipor says 10w30 but inside the manual it says 10w30 is good only to about 85F ambient temperatures. Needs the last numbers to be 40 or 50 to protect in 85+ temps. I use 20w50.

The inportant this is dino or synthetic, use the SAME weight that the manufacturer calls for. Just becuase it is synthetic, doesn't mean you can use a lighter or heavier oil. If your genny calls for 10W-30, then use 10W-30 synthetic, nothing else.
