I think there are two separate issues here ; A- chocks to stop the whole rig from moving away. I use 2 pieces of 4x4 cut at 45 degrees. Actually I used a 12 inch length and cut it in half at 45 degrees. Then I drilled a hole thrpough each piece and used a piece of nylon rope long enough to put one chock on each side of a tire ( old forest service handy trick). Even if the tire is on a levelling board/ramp the chock will stop forward or back movement.
B- stabilization for which there are several different styles/brands as discussed above. These help with dampening trailer rocking from movement of folks inside. Persosnally is use the BAL cam type.
For both issues I chock and stabilize both sides of our rig. Chock wheels before lowering front jacks and unhitching. Stabilize after levelling and dropping rear jacks.

Love my roto chocks. When I bought the 5er I took the wheel spacing measurement before taking delivery. Called Lois and had my new plates at the house before I brought the 5er home. This is a must have for me.

Ditto these!
Of course everyone likes what they spent a hundred bucks on. Makes you look smart. Seriously, I have never regretted chossing the BAL. I'm sure the ROTOs are good too. Those that own them swear by them.

I used two BAL Deluxe Tire Locking Chocks until the gear teeth broke on both of them. They worked very well until that happened. Based on the opinions posted on this forum, I switched to the Rotochoks and am glad I did. They work great and there’s really nothing that can break. I did make one modification: I replaced the nine-inch tightening rod with one that was 18”. The additional leverage makes it much easier for me to get them really tight.

O.K. - I'm convinced. I ordered the Rotochocks today. $130 is a small expense compared to what it would cost if my 5er went rolling down the hill. I've only had unexpected rolling twice in 15 years and was lucky not to have a disaster. My experience last Tuesday where it slid a couple of feet sideways with the other chocks convinced me I needed something better.
Thanks to everyone for your input!

You won't be sorry - I bought my Rotochoks 2 years ago - got the free leg lifters as a promo back then too.
I was happy to throw my bent up old lever type cam locks in the dumpster.
As with both the rotochok and cam locks, be sure to recheck them after your tires cool down. I was surprised to see that even the rotochoks can get loose.
