Hwybnb, I plan on staying the summer and hitting all the spots I’ve been and some new ones I haven’t. I was thinking about the Dalton but it’s a little intimidating… We’ll see…

We've driven from Vancouver Island in southern British Columbia to Yukon and Alaska numerous times.
Info about each day, with pictures, from our 2007 & 2008 trips are on my website. As well, two of our winter trips are detailed.
I haven't put together details for our two trips to Alaska yet, but there are numerous photos of Alaska on the site.
We tend to drycamp and boondock, so you'll find info about provincial and territorial campgrounds rather than commercial campgrounds. We also tend to avoid cities, so not too many urban photos are included.
You'll get some idea of the areas you can visit in B.C., Yukon & Alaska and the scenery you will see when there.

We have driven to Alaska in 2005 and 2008. We have yet to see everything. Here is a link to our blog from this summer.
Alaska 2008
This may give you an idea of some of the things there are to see and do. There are some must see places not in this blog as we did those on our first trip in 2005.
Even though we have been to Alaska three times, once on a cruise and the two driving trips we have not seen all there is to see. We used both the Milepost and Church's Book as well as travel guides picked up along the way.

Seems there are really just two roads, Alcan and Cassier, both end in Tok Alaska. IMO take the Cassier at least one direction, we thought it was by far the prettiest (but not the fastest). Don't miss the bears in Hyder!
Have fun, it is a great trip.

I can't be lost because I don't care where this lovely road is going

Get the video/dvd entitled `Alaska by RV' by the Howens. They traveled the length of the Alaska Highway (formerly Alcan) and did a good job of describing their trip.

With this and 'The Milepost', you're good to go. (But, as another poster mentioned, 'The Milepost' does have a lot of advertising, and much of it is purposely designed to look like 'travel advice'; caveat emptor.)
Amen to the above post. I didn't see how you plan to travel--auto, motor home, camper, 5er, etc.
lots of good information out there. Stay as long as you can afford-financially and time wise. Take you time and enjoy. Make it a real point to talk to your fellow travelers along the way and all the locals. It is a trip that you will never ever forget.

We have made the trip to Alaska two times. The first trip in 05 we stopped at many of the attractions as we went. Took a little over two weeks to get there ( TOK) It was a very enjoyable trip going up there. The second trip in 07 we decided to to hurry up and get tere so we would have more time in Alaska. We drove 10 days straight about 400 miles each day to reach ( TOK ). Not much fun. If we do it again we will go slower and enjoy as we go.
Don't forget that there are many beautiful places in Canada which will contribute to the journey. Stop for some of them going up and some coming back down.
The enjoyment is in the adventure of the trip and not getting to the end. Slow down and enjoy.
