I am wanting to know if Dexron VI is the same as TranSynd transmission
fluid? I am changing the spin on filter on my Allison transmission in a 07 Winnebago, It says in the book that it has TranSynd fluid in it.
Also I need to know where I can buy the TranSynd fluid.
Thanks for any and all coments.

The answer is NO! And typically you can get TranSynd at a Detroit Allison dealer...BUT..I think the smallest quantity you can buy is 1 gallon. If it already has Transynd in it..dont install ANYTHING else

I do not know the answer to the Dex question but I bought my TranSynd fluid at a local repair shop for Allison Transmissions. I just did a yellow pages search on Allison Transmissions. Hope this helps.

It is not the same. As above try an Allison transmission shop. Or look on the internet for the name of products that meet Allison's spec's for a product that is equal to TranSynd.

The info on TF that have been tested and approved by Allison are listed in TES295 approved Fluids
Check with a local truck shop for the brands they carry. My supplier happens to carry the BP stuff.

Dexron VI is NOT approved for use in Allison Tranny's
Dexron III is ok to use in Allison.

Average cost of Dexron in $2.50 a quart
Average cost of Transynd is $12 a quart.

I have Allison Transynd in my transmission...I picked up a little extra at the Allison shop. If mine needs anything added it will be exactly what is in it now. I think transynd is only available at Allison reps suppliers and shops. You won't need very much...I would stay with the same thing in there now.

Do not mix Dexron with Transynd.... use transynd only to top off your Allison.

Totally agree in terms of advice.

While Dexron and Transynd are mixable with no harm to the transmission (per Allison), switching from Transynd to a combination or straight Dexron will materially shorten recommended change intervals and in many cases materially shorten Allison warranty coverage.

Transynd is a synthetic and lowers transmission operating temperatures and gives smoother shifts, particularly in cold conditions.

So, my STRONG advice is to stay with Transynd available from Allison dealers.
