Living right across the Lake from Buffalo, I can testify about the snow and wind and the bad weather at times. Great town though. I know when we retire, we want to head south and away from the Canadian winters. Actually people in our campground live in Texas during the winter months, not sure where, but I know it sounded like a great place.

We are in Apache Junction and have been here all winter. Will be leaving in March. It is nice weather here. Nights can be cool sometime but most days are nice and can wear shorts and tee shirts most of the winter. Like the dry humidity. We will be back in November for next winter.

I am hoping to be in Arizona next winter, we will be, if funds work out that way. We have spent most of this winter's worst weather up here in the frozen northern mid west.

Eventually we will get it right!

I'm in Yuma, AZ right now. The weather couldn't be any better. Warm to slightly cool days and cool nights. Can't remember the last time there has been any significant rain (been here about 1 1/2 months, spent a month in Tucson before coming here). From what I've read, Yuma is (or was) in the Guinness Book of Records as the sunniest city in the US. I believe it! Since the weather is virtually perfect in the winter, you can expect to have a difficult time locating a space in an RV park unless you reserve one. I think half of Canada and most of WA and OR are here now I. I managed to obtain a spot at a park in Wellton, just east of Yuma before finally moving down to the Foothills area of Yuma. I think I'll be wintering here in the future.....

We spent time last winter at Tombstone Territorties RV Park. It was great. May go back this coming winter. Also spent some time in Casa Grande. It was OK other than the smell from the cattle farms, traffic and all of the border patrol.

We spent this winter in Florida. A couple of months in the Titusville area and a month near Crystal River. These locations are in the middle of the state. Did have a few nights in the 20's. Days fluctuated from 50's to currently in the 80's. Cooler than I expected. One thing we had in Crystal River was bugs. No-see-ums, they are a pain. However, a lot to see in this area.

Hopefully, next winter in Texas and then Arizona.

Just keep in mind that Arizona is NOT Florida. Many people think it'll be the same. It won't.

How true - no tropical storms/hurricanes. Virtually no bugs, lots of sand but no beach - except on any one of 4-5 lakes around Phoenix - Saguaro, Canyon, Appache, Roosevelt, Pleasant, as examples. Low humidity and IMHO ( so I have heard) much younger 9acting) snowbirds.
Also starting next March - MORE Baseball teams/games for spring training!!
Virtally no frosty nights ( in Mesa this Feb we did have some mid-40s!

Come on over and try us - you will like it!!

It is different And after living and working (outdoors)nearly 50 years in that climate, I found folks either love it or hate it. I am of the later ilk. I want green, water and seasons. I also found that the ones who like it, and chose to live there, came from places with northern climates, and we who love the other came from the southern ones. Funny, isn't it?

Maybe we should take a poll about who came from where? But it is a good thing, this shift in the population, otherwise everyone would be in the same area

Another thought, many of those who chose to go to the desert don't stay the whole year, but are able to escape the brutal weather summer dishes out.

You gotta like sand, rocks, and low humidity. The desert is beautiful to some and waste land to others. Stay somewhere in the lower 1/3 of the state for the winter.

Our experience with western winter weather has been that Arizona isn't far enough to go to ensure warm weather. Some years it will be great and other years not so great. In order to be assured of good weather every year our experience has been that you need to get south of Mazatlan.

We spent winter of 07-08 in Yuma. It was chilly, windy, dusty and was too crowded. We were in a park with 1200 sites, never again.

I love the location of Yuma because you're within a half days drive to Phoenix, Tucson, San Diego, Las Vegas and L.A. If we spend the winter there again I think we'll look for a smaller RV park with amenities. It's really too chilly for Stan and I. We've spent 3 years in La Penita, Mexico and love the tropical weather. We thought we'd spend the winter in Yuma to see how we liked it. We're now back to our site in Mexico. If you come from a very cold state then Yuma may be warm enough for you. Lindy
