Plastic liner worked OK, but really doesn't protect the bed from wear, just from dents. Ours was under a hard tonneau cover so it did not rust. Slippery, but, sometimes I liked that (like when unloading heavy stuff). Would not have it with a fiver hitch for reasons stated above.
Spray in. Probably the most useful, but, still not perfect solution. You can still dent the bed of the truck when carrying heavy stuff (like I do).
Bed pad/rug. I had a bed pad that I really liked. It also has the rust issue as it will trap water. Does not work well with a fiver hitch either. It does protect a little from heavy loads denting the bed. If not attached (glued) then it can 'blow out' of the bed, especially when a fiver is hitched. IMHO, one of the better solutions when you have a tonneau cover or shell.
Nothing. My present solution. Yes, I treat it like a truck. I load rocks, sand, engine parts, and other heavy stuff in there. I get scratches and dents. Will it hurt the resale value? Of course. Before I trade it I'll take out the fiver hitch rails and have it sprayed with Line-X or something like that. Make it look like it really hasn't been used like a truck.
Yep, pickup trucks have become sissy's over the past couple of decades.

HaHaHaHa LMAO That is to funny!!!!!!! I still like my lineX, it seems to keep it from rusting thats all i ask of it. yes the bed is dented up quite a bit as we don't baby it when not towing.

When I had my truck Line-Xed the Line-X guy had a Coke can with the spray on it. It was a lot stronger than a regular can so I could see the spray in helping prevent dents.

After a preformed liner in the previous truck, we bought the bed rug for the Dodge. Cleans up easily, dries out quickly, stuff in the bed doesn't slide around so easily. We drive our ATV up there regularly.... no marks. I like it.

I've had drop in and Line-X and now no liner. I guess I finally got too cheap to bother putting in a liner. The Line-X was my favorite and I'd do it again if I decide to put in/on a liner. But for now I don't much care to spend the dollares; I don't think you get a return on the money when trading. Mostly I used the truck for pulling the rig. If I need to haul dirt, sand, rock, tree/shrub debris or anything I think will really tear up the bed I put in a tarp; it helps with keeps some scratches out and make clean up really easy (and protects the bed rails and sides when loading).

Hmm, the drop in liner collects water underneath it?
Don't know about that as my bed has DRAINS to let the water out.
Seems to me the spray-in liner will PLUG UP those drains. NOW you have a water collection problem!
As far as truck owners being "sissies" for wanting to protect their investment (no matter what method), what's wrong with insuring that the part of the truck that takes the most abuse lasts as long as the REST of the truck? An unprotected bed will rust out and become useless long before the rest of the truck wears out in non-commercial use.
There once was a day when people who couldn't afford a CAR bought a PICKUP TRUCK becuase it was the cheapest (price wise) vehicle on the road. These days, pickups are often more expensive than even the fanciest luxury cars. It's just plain stupid not to try to protect them.
Oh yeah, almost forgot, I have a drop-in liner. Don't see any issues with it.

I would answer as follows. I have a Line-X bedliner and have had drop-ins in other trucks.
The only time I would recommend a drop-in is if you primary purpose if hauling large rip-raf or bricks. The reason is the spray in bedliners can be dented. The plastic drop-ins are much less likely to be damaged the same way.
Spray-on bedliners are clean and can be cleaned and refreshed with treatments like 'Tire Black' or other cleaners. It wont last too long, but does cleanup the look.
Plastic will warp, pull away from the sides, scratch the paint but work well for hauling bricks, mulch and other matters. To me it is simple.

Spray-in all the way. I put plywood in the bottom when hauling gravel, rock or such to prevent denting.
Plastic liners wear paint and allow rust to form - an out for your rust perforation warranty. Also the bed drains become inaccessible with a drop in liner unless removed. A good spray in job will insure the holes are all still open. Bed rugs are good for some purposes but not others but are easy in and out.

You are wrong, at least on Rhino liner, as mine still has the drain holes open, and after nearly 11 years still as good as the day it was sprayed, other than its faded some.

I think what you should of said ,you have not had any issues yet. Give it time its been well documented what's coming for you, and if thats not a problem for you keep it no one cares, but please don't try to sell me on drop in liners, I know better, and have seen the results of what they do.
