We have a shamrock 17 and tow with a Nissan Quest minivan. I use a reese HP Dual cam and have never had any problems with sway. We have been from florida to maine and never had any problems towing. Dont worry about some scary people, equip your van with the proper equipment and you will be fine. You may not be able to take off like a crazy jack rabbit, but you will learn to drive safer because you cant fly!

We just came back from towing our lil rig down through the hocking hills and Florida's pan handle.
Loaded with all our gear, it was great! Clearly no land speed records are ever set, we tow steady at 60, get 13.8 mpg, all that with me, the wife the two kids, two dogs and some gear in the van. No on ramp issues we make speed in plenty of time to merge and have enough left to spare.
our is a Kiwi 17 with a Rese 350 mini weight distribution and Prodigy controll

I use the Reese Dual Cam with my 19'. The dealership screwed up and installed a husky WD. Fiqured since it was all hooked up and cheaper, I would give it a try. I did not like the ride home. If only one tractor trailer passed me it was fine. The trailer had time to straighten out from sway. Not nice when three in a row came by. When I went back for some warranty work, I had them put on the Reese. Night and day. Baerly notice when trucks pass. Definately worth the extra $.

Thanks for all the advise - we went to U-Haul and had them install the weight distribution hitch they sell - sort of no name - anyway it works great and made the highway driving much better.
