My fresh water tank is very slow draining. I have opened low point drains, and opened/closed water fill cap, city water cap/valve, faucets, in all combinations and it only drains reasonably well when the water pump is turned on. The tank vent/overflow seems to be working.
Is there a anti-siphon device in the vent line that prevents the tank from draining? I know that some boats have them installed, and they can be opened by inserting a thin flexible rod/tube.
Would it help if I installed a winterizing kit on the tank side of the pump, and opened it when draining the tank. I have had a plastic filter holder break between the tank and pump, and the tank drained very quickly with that line open. The flood inside the MH was fortunately small... reminder to self... keep a #2 square drive handy.

Check the line to the drain valve. It is usually small and in many cases kinked so the water has a hard time getting out.

Thanks, the drain line looks fine (what I can see of it) and it drained quickly with the broken filter holder?

Ron ours is very slow so now we just open the valve on the empty gray water tank and kick on the pump until it stops pumping any more water. Then we open the two low point drains and it may drip for another hour or two. The HW tank is slow with its two low point drains open UNTIL we open the safety valve then it drains quickly.

Mine drains slow sometimes, other times quickly. Most likely plastic debris in the tank from the manufacuring process.

Use a momentary blast of air up the drain hose/pipe to dislodge any junk in the line.

I keep a wire (piece of clothes hanger)in the basement. I open the valve and push it up into the tube to dislodge any debris. It is amazing how much "stuff" ends up in the tank that makes its way to the drain tube.

I replaced my drain fittings and drain valve - they only had a 1/4" hole thru them and I tied the vent line up high to make sure it didn't have a droop to hold water. It drains real good now. Craig

Thanks all, I think that I'm getting a list of "projects" this weekend.
I'm going to remove and reinstall the water pump and add acoustical isolation pads, a winterizing kit, together with some pipe insulation and perhaps a loop (or loops) to help quiet the pump and PEX water line. I can also check my observation of the tank draining faster without the pump installed.
I'll also blow the lines with air, and use a flexible rod (heavy weed wacker cord) in the lines to verify no blockages exist.
