Wheelbase to length ratio of .51 is marginal at best. That is a long overhang in the rear which adds to the swaying problems when experiencing conditions previously mentioned.
By my calculation the wheelbase to length ratio comes out to .5559 (wheelbase (213.5")divided by length (384") = .5559. I think that is above marginal.
It is above marginal - well above. But also not into the great category.
IMV the numbers have a different meaning for front engine and rear engine MHs. With DPs there is a front overhang but the ratio captures both - so usually the back overhang for a DP, given the same length and same WB as a gasser, would be less than for the gasser. Some C Class gassers that are around .50 make me wonder what the designer and manufacturer was thinking about. I'm not a light weight and in some cases standing on the back bump would raise the front wheels off the ground. (I actually had a dealer demo this several years ago.)

I agree, I would not consider anything less than a .55 for WB to L ratio. That's why DW and I are also looking at the Bigfoot Class C on the 5500 Kodiak chassis, specifically the model 40MH32ST. Length is 31'10", wheelbase is 239.5 (WB to L ratio is .626), 330 HP Duramax diesel, 2 slides and it's a four season coach. Bigfoot makes several floor plans with option of gas or diesel; slide or no slide.

I would agree BUT
???????????????? A used model or an unsold?
Sale of Bigfood name etc.
Has it been sold and restarted? Couldn't find any evidence on the web - but don't have time for a long search.

Lazy Daze sell every RV they make. They have no need or want to build any more then the all ready do. There is usually a 3 to 6 month wait on them.

If LD primarily builds to order then saying they "sell every RV they make" has little meaning.

The particular rig we're looking at is used -- a 2006 model with all the options. It has less than 12,000 miles and appears to be in excellent condition. Sellers are original owners and are selling to move up to larger rig.
I do have concerns about Bigfoot being out-of-business. I have read through the posts and my own research that Bigfoot is a very well made quality unit that is a true 4-season coach. We'll see...

I would agree. If it is in good shape and price is right, I'd go for it too.

"No slides puts you in a resale situation where about 90+ percent of the buyers won't even look at the coach. Yea there's guys who say slides are not needed but who honestly has had slides and gone back. Amazing that Lazy Daze still has their head in the sand."
I had no problem selling my '02 LD earlier this summer, after being a larger '05, sight-unseen.
A lot of folks want slides, some of us do not. To each his own. LD is still selling RV's without any problems, filling a niche market. I don't think that means they have their head in the sand! I am quite happy with no slides and I appreciate the incredible quality of an LD.
