Hi new guy here. We recently purchased a 1989 safari Serengeti, 34', gasser with a ford 460, that is in great shape, but have ran into a few snags. First snag is, we don;t have an owners manual, and desperatly need one...which leads into second snag. This past weekend while attempting to remove the old air horn compressor to install a new one for, we must have did something we shouldn't have. WE lost power to the fuel pump.
After searching for F.pump, finding it and back tracking wires, we couldn;t find a fuse bad or anything. we then noticed a sticker note on the fornt of the rv, behind the passenger side fornt access panel,
stating that the fuel pump is armed with a safety switch and if switch is activated refer to owners manual or resting instructions....which ties back into snag 1.
We don't know what this switch is or even if we switched it...or if it was bad coincidence. There is also a switch just inside the curb side entrance door, to the right of the step that has 2 large 2 ga wires going to it. I assume this is a master power switch of some sort, but it didn;t seem to do anything, after hour hours of trial and error testing on and off and doing different things.
we ended up, rewiring the fuel pump off the coach battteries and a manual switch and it works fine.
need some help to get it back together right.
also, we have some issues with possible heat temp being around 230...but not sure if its a guage or actual temp.
any advice?
Thanks,
greg

Nothing, still haven't found a manual. It sees everyone with a 1989 safari serengeti, needs one of these manuals, for i have found several people looking, but nothing to be found. Someone has one out there.

A lot of Ford products had a fuel cut off switch, encase you were in an accident it would shut off the fuel pump. My guess is that somewhere near where you were working there should be a black square box with a red circle on the top, press in the circle and power should be restored to the fuel pump. Those things used to drive us nuts in the body shop.
Hope this helps.

Check for a local or even internet based Safari club. I've seen many on the net and possibly one of those could steer you in the right direction. Some info I found:
Owners' Club
If you decide to purchase a Safari coach, it's a good idea to consider joining the Safari International Owners' Club. You'll have an opportunity to get to know other Safari enthusiasts from all over the world.
You can find a calendar detailing dates and locations for upcoming Safari rallies on the Safari website.
If you'd like to receive a free subscription to Safari Adventures Magazine', simply call 800-634-0855. You can also search back issues online. You may also subscribe to the company's free monthly newsletter, which contains the latest information on Safari recreational vehicles. http://www.safarimotorcoaches.com/owners/club.html

I know there is a safety switch on there somewhere, becuase we have found a sticker telling us there is one....but the sticker says, refer to manual for location and resetting instruction. No manual. Last night, with a flashlight in hand i was searching all over insider under the dash and I finally found a little block box attached close to the steering column, up under the dash, w/ a grey button on top. It was to late to rehook up the fuel pump, so I'll do that today, hit the magic gey button and see what comes of it.
You know, instead putting a sticker that says, "hey idiot, there is a safety switch on this thing, go find the manual to figure it out."
Why couldn't they just tell you how to reset the switch, on the sticker!!
genius.

You could try a FORD garage/FORD truck garage also. They might be able to give you info on the chassis.
