Here's my situation, bought a 2006 F350 DRW Crew cab, just what I was looking for last Sept. Oasis report was good, two items under warranty repaired. I think I got a good deal, paid around $18K. Had 45K miles and have been driving around town for the past 8 months. Noticed the puking of anti-freeze occassionaly. Took a 2000 mile trip last month towing 16,000 lb. fifth wheel, 2000 miles. Did great, more than enough power, no problem, no overheating, averaged 10mpg. Came back, had dealer look at puking antifreeze,,,,and said head gaskets were leaking,(typical problem). Had new EGR valve and headgaskets, all under warranty,,,no big deal. I even have extended warranty to cover deductables and anything else for next 40,000 miles. Now I went new truck shopping today, and was offered $20,000 trade on ford or dodge of my choice, but I am leary of the new 6.4 PSD and I have never owned a Dodge. My truck has everything I want and more than I need in options, but getting antsy on future problems,,,we live in our 5th wheel full time, but still work for a living, and will not be doing a lot of traveling in the next year,,retirement date counting down. The 2 trucks I am looking at really one has more than I want, the other has a few things lacking..question is, should I just kick back and enjoy my paid for truck and try not to worry, or bite the bullet and get a new truck while my trade in has some value..I know the final answer is mine, but would appreciate some opinions..thanks

IF it were me.....I'd keep it and tuck away a little bit every month either for repairs or to put down on new truck when the time comes.
Being a diesel, and relatively low mileage right now, it's going to have a fair amount of value for awhile yet.
'course it's just my opinion...

Oh...one other opinion...
That 20K you got offered on a trade "ain't nothin'"..dealer showing you NOOOOO respect..!

I would probably keep the 06. I haven't heard of too many repeats of the head gasket issue, but you never know. If I was to get a new truck now - I don't like the problems on the fords and i'm just not in the mood to buy a new dodge, and I'm right off chev due to past disappointments.

Tough choice. Boils down to how much you don't want a payment.

I'm a Dodge guy but my opinion is to keep it, especially since it's paid for. Any repairs you MIGHT have to make will be a lot less (probably) than what you'd have to put with it to get a new one. That's REALLY low mileage for a diesel. But, you do what feels right to you.

Remember, you asked. I'd keep what you have. I wouldn't touch a post emisison (2007/08/09) diesel truck unless it was just absolutely necessary.

Thank a veteran.

Thanks for all the opinions,,,I guess I was leaning towards keeping the truck, although new truck, has a nice ring to it...I absolutely love everything about my truck so really keeping it seems to be the financial and practical choice...anyways, my wife keeps looking at motorhomes so this all may be a mute point anyway,,since she usually (always) gets what she wants..haha

If you can get rid of a 6.0 and make some money to boot, I'd be trading.

How many miles you plan on putting on it in the next few years? You've got 40,000 miles of warranty left, I'd keep it till that warranty was close to running out, and put the money I would have been paying for the new truck into savings. Heck at the end of three years you may have more than they were going to give you for the truck on trade in savings, and still be able to sell the truck.
