Size match is: None.

That little 4 cylinder won't pull much of anything.

Hoping this is a joke. If it isn't you must not know much about the 150ish hp 2.3L Duratec's the Ranger have.

I'd say there's at least 2.5k there. Pulled her 120 miles at 60mph easily. It wanted to go faster but as you can see the trailer's not that great.

But back on subject. The manual isn't rated to tow anything from the factory but can tow just as well as the auto's. I do frequent clutch bleeds due to the clutch being the weak link. The M50D in the current Rangers was used in larger trucks for years. Also don't be afraid to let the DOHC rev it won't hurt it any. Just get a hitch and some electric brakes you're good to go.

Does the 2500 lbs. include the weight of the truck or something? I'm not sure how you're figuring you've got that much weight on a 1/2 ton frame that begins to squat at around 700 lbs.

I've owned two different Rangers over the years and 2500 lbs. on either one of them and they'd be going to the junkyard with bent frames.

I'm not condoning anything here - just more of a funny...
I have a 92' Ford Ranger XLT regular cab 2.3l manual trans which did pull a 21' Euroliner Speedboat with an I/O V-8 about 150 miles. Then 2 months later, it pulled a single axle U-haul with about 1000# of band gear almost 250 miles AND back! (both times for the same friends who had just previously roasted the trannys in their Astro Van) All it cost me was a slave cylinder - and with over 120,000 miles on it now, it's still chugging along. (I will side with a previous poster - they don't have enough power to get out of there own way, much less tow anything...)

It has 2k helper springs and that's concrete in the bed and trailer. The axle will blow before a frame will bend.
