Any campgrounds in particular close to the west entrance that have access to the tour buses?

If you have time and like pizza stop at Moose's saloon in Kalispell It's located on the east side of Hwy 93 just a half block south of the Hwy 93 & 2 junction. Best pizza in the region.

I don't think so. You'll have to drive into the park to Apgar.

Ok, From a Red Bus Driver. The best CG to stay at for a red bus tour is Glacier Meadows on HWY 2 on the south side of the Park. There are no Red Bus tours form camp grounds on the west side unless you are at Apgar CG in the park and you go to Village Inn in Apgar. See Red Bus. If you are east bound go to Great Fall after GNP to the CW Russell art museum and the Louis and Clark Great Falls interpretive center. Then wonder southeast to I-90.

I stand corrected. It looks like there are some tours that leave from the West Glacier KOA (see Buffalobilly's Red Bus link). That's good to know because that's where I'll be staying. Thank you for the link!

I'm digesting a lot of info and will take all into account. I understand that the park's shuttle bus that leaves from Apgar doesn't start operating until July 1st so I'm taking my time getting there with at least one nights stop at Finley Point State Park on Flathead lake.
So what's the deal with the Apgar campground inside the park? Has anyone ever stayed there in a large rig? I understand that it's dry camping only, but might do the trick for one night since it's supposed to be walking distance to the village bus stop.

Yes you can stay there in your MH. The Red Bus Tours are a great way to see the Sun Road. You can also acsess East Glacier and St Mary's from the southern way around the park. You might even consider a short jaunt into Waterton through Chief Mountain Crossing into Canada.

I received the below email from a friend of mine yesterday. He lives up there. It's just info for those that may be interested.
Glenda LET ME off work early yesterday since it was the first day of Sun Road in Glacier opening all the way to the top.
Drove up in early evening. There was so much damage from the last huge avalanche that many of the 'pullouts' to stop and get pictures were closed for construction, and about 2 miles of road still unpaved up high. Thousands of feet of barriers missing where the slide tore out trees over 50 feet tall, like match sticks. The avalanche went for over a mile downward taking out lanes of the winding road in two different levels where it switches back. Still quite a bit of snow in the high areas off road. And very cold, like a dummy tourist, I forgot to take a coat.
Never pass up a chance to go somewhere
