Weather will likely be warm (more likely hot) and dry. Rain gear and a few warm clothes are always a good idea but you likely won't have much need for them.

Fires are a fact of life during summer in this part of the country. Who knows what the situation will be when you get there so you may have to adjust your itinerary according to what you find.

I just looked at the weather forecast for the Okanagan, and next Monday it will be 42C (105F) in Kelowna and 43C (107F) in Osoyoos! Those figures could break all time records for those locations, although it has still been hotter than this further north (112F)

Well, at 5:00 pm on Sunday, about six weeks after we'd done all our bookings and 14 hours before we were to leave, Mike checked the temps along our route and found them all in the triple digits. Since that's what we've had at home for ten days, we cancelled all our bookings up to Clearwater and rebooked along the CA, OR, and WA coasts: Trinidad, CA; Newport, OR; Hoquiam, WA; and Hope, BC. Cool and foggy and we love it! I'd rather be cold than too hot.

Glad you were able to come back on, Margaret & let us know what you were doing, I've been thinking about you. I've attached the long range forecast for Clearwater which as you may not know is just a little further up the Valley from the tiny community of Chinook Cove which shares the record for the highest temp ever recorded in BC (112F) I'm glad to see that the temps will not be that high when you're there and wont even get into triple digits, but not far off! 38C is 100F. Notice how the temp really drops next weekend, you may need those warm clothes!
Have a great trip!
