Might be going without electricity for a few days and have never boondocked. I plan on electric being there but I am doing a no-reserve camping trip.
Will a fantastic fan on the low or medium setting kill of our battery if we used it at night for a couple over nights?
I can live without power but will need it for pump and a few lights. If it is hot out at night I will need some air movement.

No geni, no solar, just a 12 volt deep cycle. Will go without TV etc. Just lights and water pump.

I just got back from a 9 night boondocking trip............it was hot where we were.......I ran my fantastic fan on low all of the nights........it drew 1.3 amps from my measurements..........I did run my generator for a couple of hours each day to compensate...........
If it havn't been for my fantastic fan I wouldn't have gotten any sleep!

We have 2-6V deep cycle batteries. Mostly drycamp and are frugal with the lights and water pump (mostly to save water). Often leave the Fantastic Fan on when we go to bed, with it set to turn off if the temp drops below 68F in the fifth wheel. Have drycamped for up to three nights without charging the batteries.

1.3 amps in 10 hr a day makes 10.3 amp-hr.
Most of deep cycle batteries are over 100 amp-hr.
Lights might take much more of the battery, than the fan.
Still should be good for 3 days without TV.

I assume you'll also be running the fridge so that'll be some draw on the batteries. Could be a MAJOR draw on them if you don't turn off the "climate" switch on your fridge. I've run my exhaust fan all night a few times when boondocking but I have two 6 volt Trojans. I would suspect that it might be a big draw on a combination RV/Marine starting battery but give it a try. If you travel the next day and your tow vehicle has a powerful alternator it should recharge the battery while towing. If you're staying in one place then you're most likely going to need to find a way to charge the battery. In a pinch you could hook up the tow vehicle and let it idle for a couple of hours but that a pretty inefficient way to charge a battery. Good luck / Skip

Yeah I will be running the fridge on propane and will leave the climate control off. Guess it will a bit of an experiment....man I wish I had a geni or atleast a 2-6v setup. Maybe next years toy.

A 2-6v would be great. In the meantime you may want to consider a power pack to run other things like a TV and a fan. You can get a good one for under $100.

WE have the same as you....one 12V. With lights, water pump and the two fans going at night, we lasted 2 days.
