If you are thinking of possibly working in the NV Amazon next year, it would be best to hunt down that high school diploma now as I was told by the liason there that they DO NOT accept just signatures...you had to have the real thing. Of course if you have bachelors, masters or PhD, just bring that instead.

We just got back from the laundramat here in Coffeyville and we met a couple from Florida who were leaving as they had resigned early. They resigned due to health issues as she got the flu real bad...she says it is going around the plant? Also, she said that there have been people fired for not making the "numbers"...is that true does anyone know?

I have not heard of anyone being fired, for any reason. I do know a few people have quit already.

The same rumor ran around the floor, campgrounds, and forums. As far as I know no one got fired, if you had issues with meeting your numbers, as long as you were imporving, or doing your best you were fine, in some case people did get moved to better departments.

Many people left early last year for many reasons, most were due to the long hours, standing and walking on the concert floor 10, 11, or 12 hours a day.

In my opinion most of us workampers are every bit as good if not better than Amazon.com "associates" (that is what they call their full-time employees that are not "specialist"). There are a lot of Amazon.com full-time employees that have been with them for years that just do a few jobs, moving to where they need the labor. Most of them are pure "slackers". They start at $11 an hour, and top out at $13 an hour. Workampers are making $10.50 on days and $11 on nights plus they pay for our capmsite. I suspect that most of us in reality are making more than the majority of Amazon.com "associates" when we add in the cost of the campsite that Amazon.com picks up.

I talk with Amazon.com supervisors (plant manager & night shift plant manager) and they absolutely LOVE workampers. I work on the singles line running one of the "slam" lines where labels are stamped on packages. That took some special training ----- most of the "associates" are not certified to run the stamp line. I am also qualified to run/operate the "jackpot" where packages are sorted into the different (Gaylord-boxes)--- huge boxes the size of a palet. Each gaylord-box is for a different form of shipment (US-Mail, Foreign Countrys --- 3 different boxes, Priority US Mail, Overnight US Mail, US mail going to Dallas, UPS, UPS overnight, UPS 2nd Day ---, Several different kinds of Fed X ---- I think there are 14 different forms of shipping in all.

Point being if you are a normal adult used to actually working you will be fine. If you are looking for a job at a desk playing computer games and talking with buddies on the phone ----- ya going to be in for a HUGE surprise. Everyone is on their feet for their 10-hr shift. No chairs anywhere but the break rooms ---- Seriously. No one in the plant is sitting down and there is no one standing around. The place is 10-hrs of jam packed action. You will not be gaining weight here. VBG

We just got back from the laundramat here in Coffeyville and we met a couple from Florida who were leaving as they had resigned early.

A couple quit that was working in our area for what we heard was "health-issues". They were from Florida ---- He was going to work at Lazy Daze where he has a winter job showing new owners how everything in their new RV works.

I am not aware of ANYONE with the flu or any other kind of sickness for that matter.

They resigned due to health issues as she got the flu real bad...she says it is going around the plant?

I am sure not aware of flu going around the plant. Everyone I have seen is healthy.

Also, she said that there have been people fired for not making the "numbers"...is that true does anyone know?

Not that I know of. Trust me there is a LOT of talk around the campgrounds, in the break rooms and on the floor. I have not heard of anyone being fired for not making "numbers". They do want employees to be productive and they do talk about the numbers each shift. But that sure isn't undue pressure.

Making their "numbers" shouldn't be a problem for anyone willing to work. They aren't used to employing "rocket scientists". They are hiring folks --- off the street --- that are willing to work. That is all. Folks that can walk, take directions, and chew gum should be able to meet any "number" that they give you. Anyone that has a work history should have absolutely NOTHING to be concerned about.

Those that have been on the dole or expect a welfare check for doing nothing may have something to be concerned about. Amazon.Com does expect you to produce, but do not expect you to be "Super Man".

Heck, there are 70-year olds working out there and having a good time.
