We've been traveling with our bunny for 4 years now. At campgrounds my wife walks him on a leash ... amazing how he draws the kids and adults over. We just got a new bunny from the shelter that is being house trained before we take her camping. Bunnies are great pets for traveling as they don't make noise and do not have to be walked. Our bunny, Bugs must be the most well traveled bunny around...crossing the country 3 times.

Mr. Patches wrote: I camp all summer long with two bunnies in a truck camper my brother detailed as the "BunFest Express II". I put a large cage in the extented cab portion of the truck so I can see and talk to them as we travel. I also carry pens so they can be penned up in the campsite, they sure do attract attention.

This is soooooo sweet!!!!
To update our situation: I got Sylvia-Star a lease and harness and she took to it like a duck to water! I asked the pet food store, near our campsite, if we could 'try before we buy" I put it on her and she took off down the isles like a mad bunny- this store is a huge warehouse and I had a time trying to explain to her that we not only needed to pay for it, but that we were likely not allowed to loiter in the store......We have used it at the State and national parks that we have camp at and it attracts alot of attention; Sylvia loves the star treatment. ......long story shorter, we have been traveling for a couple of months in State Parks and National Parks and have had a wonderful time in "the Bunny Bus" I was surprised at how animal friendly all these places are!

Neither Miss Ivy or Mr. Pepper will tolerate a harness. We did have a BunFest this year at Moreau Lake State Park in New York (Adirondack's). I came from Virginia with my two, a couple from New York City came with their four, a friend from Allentown, PA came with her six, a lady from Chicago with her one, and one lady that lived near the park with one that came by every day. During the day all the bunnies were set up in their pens in my campsite as it was the biggest. 14 bunnies in one campsite really attracted a lot of attention.

We had a giant Lop that was leash trained. He loved his walks! I owned a pet store and he was the mascot and one of the stars! Also had a guinea pig leash trained and a betta who came to the side of the tank when summoned

Quote: If DH and I were retired and fulltimers camping, I probably would have a hen or two go with us.
As fulltimers for 9 years, I really would have loved to do this, but DH put the brakes on that one

This is very inspiring! You know many humans can't make such a travel claim! My buns are doing great and I am amazed at how well it is working! My cats had a time getting used to it but they are doing much better- they love to go in the drawers and cabinets- I think there is a secret underworld tunnel in there! Hopefully this deters mice....
The only thing I don't like is having to throw the compost (ie. their litter box bunny poop away) In my home base town my friend takes it and adds it to her compost pile.

Our son's Dutch novelty has been with us about 8 years, since we found him at a remote cabin where he had been abandoned. Unneutered males can be a problem as we often point out to our son. (VBG)
The rabbit is very calm and likes to travel although when it is hot he insists on sitting at my wife's feet in line with the air conditioning. Large sighs can be heard when the air con is first turned on.
He is a big hit with people when out on his leash for a walk or just roaming about our site. He's very fond of cats but not as interested in dogs.
