We have a 1999 Jayco Desigher Class C MH. The speedometer and all the other gauges are hard to read. Even with the dash lights on the driver can barely read them in the daylight. Does anyone else have this problem and is there a solution?

My solution was a new emergency brake assembly.!!

After they installed a complete new emergency brake, I had new lights all over my dash I didn't even know where there. It even changed the color of lights on my radio......but then again I could have done without the price tag that all came with. Just goes to show you what all the computer panels are attached to.

We need more input on how to make the dash gauges more readable.

at first I thought it was just a lighting thing, but it sounds like they're hard to read day or night? My old '83 had blue covers over the bulb housing - I thinned the plastic material with a dremel and a stone so it let a lot more light thru the covers. My gauges are much brighter now at night. But, total bunny trail response, because I don't think that's what you're asking?

tomkaren13,
What coach make is your Jayco? Ford, GM, other?

When you say they are hard to see day or night, please explain. Night time visibility would lead one to believe it could be lighting, but daytime is something else. Is the wheel in the way?

Is the instrument panel cover clouded over? some plastic headlight polish should fix that.

Our Jayco class C is on a Ford chassis. Dash gauges are hard to read during the daytime. We have tried turning the lights on but doesn't help. There is NO contrast. NOTHING is in the way. We haven't driven it at night yet.

Yep, The Ford E-450 has a plastic cover between you and the gauges. If you drive with your hands on the steering wheel at 10 & 2 your hands and arms cover the oil pressure gauge and the fuel gauge. (another good idea from Ford)
On my Saturn Vue toad the gauges have a white background with black markings you can read through the back window of the vehicle! I have a 2006 E-450 and happened to see the new manlier model. The poor gauge setup is still the same!
Doesn't anyone here know someone that works on Fords design team?

So you don't like the white letters on black background?

Sorry, but I don't get what's hard to see about that. I have zero problem reading my instrument clusters.

Overlay kits are available to give your cluster a white background, with red or blue letters.
