I'm starting to think the problem may be between the dash and the drivers seat...

Ford sells over 200,000 E-series a year. THis is the first I've head anyone complain about it. I've driven E450 motorhomes and U-hauls, and had a problem seeing the dash.

All Ford Gasoline Class A's use the same instrument cluster that Ford class C's do.

All Ford F-250 -F-550 trucks used the same gauges as well.

Older Model F-150s also used the same gauges.

I used to work at a Ford Dealership, and have never ever heard anyone say one thing about the guages, both positive or negative.

It appears the Ford design is not adequate for your visual reference during daylight hours. Solution, drive only at night or get a different design!

As simple as it seems to you, your explanation still is pretty weak. Are you just seeing glare on the gauge cover? Maybe there's something on the plastic, like a film of cleaner of some kind, like ArmorAll or similar? Dust? Dirt? Can you see thru the cover if you step down out of the seat and stand close?

Try to troubleshoot the problem, because, similar to your "can't see the gauges" problem, we can't see what you're looking at.

Maybe snap a photo of what you're seeing and post it up here? We really do like to help and the odd "never saw THAT one before" is actually kind of a fun challenge, for me, at least.

So you don't like the white letters on black background?

No, If you read my post it remarked that with a white background and black numbers you could read the gauges from the toads back window.
(a good thing)

My E-450 has a black background with red dials.

"Overlay kits are available to give your cluster a white background, with red or blue letters"

Really, now that would be nice! I don't suppose you have a link handy?
Thanks, Arborist

On our '88 Rambler the dash switch indicators were also almost impossible to read, they are not lit from underneath, the letters were recessed, but apparently they were not white from the beginning. I took white hobby paint, and relettered each one (the background color is charcoal), and they can now be easily seen. Hope this helps...

I could not find a non-tach kit. But this one should work for the speedo if you trim the tach away from the speedo. You will actually need 2 kits.

This is the second gauge kit, so you can change the volt and temp gauges. Or you could get this kit only if you are willing to cut out the opennings for the odo and trip meter.

These kits only changes the background, not the lights. But the stock lights are fairly bright when the dimmer is all the way up.

tomkarenl3,
Nobody is trying to be difficult, some of us are having trouble understanding what the issue is. "Can't read. . ." could mean anything. Is the cover reflecting? Numbers faded? Plastic lens fogged up? Numbers too small?

Trying to help.
