I have the a smaller TT and the TV that came with the camper is a great quality TV, but it does not have a digital tuner. I would like to go tailgating with my camper as well as watch some football games if we're out in the boonies. I would like to get a smaller digital tuner, but not spend more than $50-60 since it won't be used too often.

Any suggestions?

Take a look here:
MicroGem
You will have to look around to buy one.
MG2000 D2A converter box, smallest unit I could find.

I like this one http://www.dtvpal.com the PLUS model is the one I have

IT is small, uses a non-standard power plug, Do not know if it can be 12v powered but the tv needs 120 v

This unit will download up to 2 weeks of program guide, and let you set up to 5 events (Programs to watch) and it will let you "repeat" them. so if you set it up for say Daytime Dramas.. It will snag those every day

You can search by show name or other search terms as well

Made by Echostar. The interface is very "dish Network" like

And one feature I really like.. Of all the satallite hardware I have ever tried DISH had the best antenna pointing software.. This of course, has nothing to do with over the air digital tv save

This converter has the BEST antenna pointing software

I visit a web site, it tells me what digital stations are in the area and what ANALOG channels they broadcast on (In case you have not yet figured it out the new digital stations use the old analog frequencies) So, I know where I"m parked now to set my DTV PAL + to Channel 41 (The radio channel) and peak it

Then Channel 7 (.1.2 and .3) comes in sharp and clear.

I've not seen that in others.

Take a look at all 3 there, Mine is the one in the middle (if they still show 3, else its' the left one)

the new digital 'signals' use the old analog Channel numbers, some stayed on VHF freq's and some moved to UHF freq's, they all kept the old analog ch#'s

The government coupons are no longer valid, are they? I may see if I have a family member who isn't using one.

Rather than buying a seperate digital tuner for say $50-$60, you can buy a small fully portable 7" LCD TV with digital tuner built in.

Check out this one HERE for $139!

Also, Walgreens carries a nice small Venturer brand 10" LCD with digital tuner, regular price is $179. But if you watch the sales fliers, they put it on sale every few months at about $99. We have one of these, nice pix, tuner works as well as our converter boxes. Uses a 9V wall powersupply but the power jack on the TV states 9-12V.

Zinwell model ZAT-970a. I got mine from Amazon.com for $10 with the digital coupon including shipping. It's about 5" x 6" and 1" deep, and has analog pass through and a timer so you can use it with a VCR. I couldn't be happier with mine.

I already have a 19" LCD that came with the camper.

Well... Alrighty.. You didn't mention size in your original post then you mention tailgating which would make it sound like you were looking for portable and or small...

In this case why worry about size, these things are rather small, mine are about 6" across, 4" deep, 3/4" high. Can be operated laying down or come with a stand so they stand up. Small enough you could just velcro it to the TV.

The only problem I see is many have a built in power supply so they will need 120V AC. Although it may be possible to open it up and modify to accept 12V, this would need to be looked at model by model though.

Check around though, you might find so that use an external wall supply, in these cases you might be able to adapt to 12V if needed.
