It is going on 1yr. and we still can't get rid of them. Small black ants we picked up in Florida and have tried bombs and different types of bug sprays with no success. Any suggestions? Thanks!

DH is in Pest Control business in Fl/GA.

He is familiar with them. He uses Optiguard but I don't think you will be able to buy it. It's a bait. You may find it at a do it yourself pest control place, if not try to find a "bait station" with Fipernil. Sprays don't work well. It's better to get a bait that they take back to the colony and it destroys the colony.

You could also call a pest control company if you can't do it yourself. They are very hard to get rid of.

Good luck.

Terro is my favorite lately. It does seem like they prefer different brands of bait at times so I often get two to four different brands and put them all out.

Have a pest control company tent it.

Go to the local feed and seed store, not Home Depot or Lowe's.
Get a small container of Dizanon and Otho Ant and Termite Killer.
Mix one oz. (1 oz.) of each in a gal of water, preferably in a 1.5 gal garden sprayer. Make sure there are not going to be any pets or the unit to be used in he next 24/36 hrs.

Spray around all the base boards, bath, kitchen, living area, etc.
Then spray anywhere the ants could be coming in.

Close the unit and stay away for the time mentioned. Take a second look (inspection) and re-apply if necessary.

This method has worked for me for the past twenty years.
You may have to look at several feed or seed stores, since the EPA has cracked down on where those two can be sold.

Open the unit and let it air out real good before using.

on edit - Found this additional info after the fact. Ant removal

I don't know if they were Argentine ants but when I was in Florida
I had those real small tiny ants invade my MH. Mine got in via a plant that was placed out side the MH and when it was brought in, the ants where in the pot.

I sprayed and that did not work. (BTW spraying bug spray in a MH was nasty, spent better part of day drying to get the smell out.) What worked for me were those small round bait stations. But them under the sinks, and under the couch and that did the trick. They find it like food and bring it back to the rest of their family and poof they are all dead!.

We used two types of round bait stations; One for grease eating ants and one for sweet eating ants. I put out about 12 total. I don't know which one worked but it got rid of the little buggers in a couple of days.
