With respect to using Seafoam in internal combustion engines... Seafoam is alcohol based. This may be incompatible with certain seals inside fuel delivery components. Read your owner's manual to see if this additive is compatible for use.

(There was a discussion about the ingredients over on the Turbo Diesel Register about it's use in the Cummins- VP44/ CP3. It did perform as it states and folks liked its results. It's ingredients may not be recommended for use in certain engines.)

Just FYI.. do what you feel is best for your equipment.

With mine running with the eco switch off, I have used carburator cleaner in it to clear that problem but basically I just use stabil in mine.

Was $6.47 at our WalMart and all of a sudden it was $8.67 for the same size can. Guess everyone got the word on how well it worked.

You can try it, but the idle jets in the carb are really small and it may not work... Seafoam (or Techron) is used regularly by motorcycle enthusiasts to insure clear idle jets in carburated motorcycles which are also relatively small (mine is a Gold Wing)...

After you get it running properly (I had mine rebuilt by the local Honda Power shop) you might also try draining the carburetor on the 2000i after use - that's what I do now and it has solved the problem of jets clogging up... Just requires a few extra pulls to get gas in the float bowl again when starting after draining the carb...

The drain valve is located on the bottom of the carb and is readily accessible after removing the side cover... The gas drains out one of the clear tubes running down the side of the gen set and can be readily caught in an old container of some sort... Not very much comes out but enough to do the job...

Even though I put Stabil in my MC gas tank when winterizing, I ALWAYS drain the carbs as well... No problems in 16 years doing it this way (the bike is a 93) and it sits from November to May in storage with touching it... I will on occasion run some Techron or Seafoam thru a tank of gas on the MC (6 gal tank) if I know I am going to use most of the tnak up... That's because we generally use a much higher concentrate than recommended... Then I refill the tank and dilute the balance of what is left over if the bike is going to sit for a while...

Give it a shot - you've got nothing to lose at this stage

Seafoam is great stuff! We buy it by the gallon at TSC store. Its $49 for a gallon at the tractor supply store. Much more expensive at auto parts or Walmart for small cans.

I had the problem on my 2000 surging (hunting) and tried everything I could think of to no avail. After reading some posts on generator sight it mentioned to check the oil level. Mine had a little to much oil. I drained it and filled it to the correct level and everything works fine now - no more hunting. Don't know if it was coincidence or not but it worked for me.
