I think it melted during the night Sir Frank. Looking at the images as of now, I don't even see dust on the trees. I see wet on rooves and streets.
Either a screen capture or a save as would fix that.

Well "Sir Frank" posted a webcam of Anchorage and they get a whole different weather than we do here in Fairbanks! And yes, the first coating of "dust" melted away up here too...as it normally does. But you can count on a second (and third, and fourth...) coat really soon!
Our weatherman has announced we should have sticking snow by the middle of next week. We'll see.

No, it is definitely still here - and the higher altitudes have an even thicker coat each day. I can't even see rock edges anymore on some of the mountains here at my house. The reason it looks like it is gone on the Borealis Broadband camera is because the cloud layer is so low it is obscuring it. Come winter, that cloud layer becomes ice fog so low that the planes at Elmendorf cannot take off for hours...
Edited to add that "termination dust" is snow on the mountains, not necessarily down at the lower (sea elevation) levels. We haven't had snow here in the lower elevations in Anchorage yet, but it will happen soon.

You've been very lucky then. I've had problems with fuel here both gas and diesel and have had to add every year.
An informal survey of the folks I know here in Whitehorse says that you've just been unlucky - I haven't talked to a single person who uses any additives.

rickjo, thanks for the pictures. We recognize the scenes from our summer '08 trip.
sirdrake, I found that Borealis webcam a few weeks ago. Beautiful pictures. I didn't realize until you posted that photo that the Downtowner RV Park is in the center of the picture. We made a reservation there sight unseen on the way from Homer. Suffice it to say that it was not the most comfortable night spent in AK.
