Though I agree with this Mark..... I found that my tanks, IF I do a real good job of cleaning (and when they were brand new) the probes are accurate... for one tank, no more. So probes still showing EMPTY after 3 trips.. amazing.

It is good to discuss the probes and thoroughly question their operation. My experience to date is actually six dumps of the black tank and several fillings and dumps with water at home. I must say that a year from now I will move the rating to 100% given continued performance as it has been so far. I wasn't too focused on the probes when my MH was new so I ca'tn remember well how they worked. They did show some issues fairly early is all I can say. No doubt results will come in as time goes on and we will all know more about them.

My OEM stuff is still working fine after four years. I will keep it in mind for if needed.

I just open the flush valve and look down the toilet.
100% accurate... $0...

(I realize that doesn't work on all rigs, mine just happens to have a straight shot to the tank.)

Same here for the black tank and I don't have a problem with the grey. It just makes me mad when something doesn't work right. If it won't work why put it there in the first place.

My OEM probes in my 1993 Pace Arrow are sitll accurate. I normally flush both black and grey tanks when I dump with an wall mounted in-tank flusher.

It's too bad the Horst probes can't fix the inherent inaccuracy of those "Empty", "1/3", "2/3", "Full" indicators.

We had an '88 Mallard, never a problem with the probes. We now have an '03 Itasca, probes never were dependable. Not sure but I believe the Mallard used a full 12 volts through the probes and the Itasca used electronics, like an ohm meter, very low voltage. I've seen a breaker that was hit by lighting, checked with an ohm meter and it showed that it was OK, turn it on and it would blow.
