Looking for a campground within 30-60 minutes of the above areas. Need 3 way hook-ups, with 50 amp service. Don't need a lot of amenities but a pool would be nice. Thanks.

Just check out "gettysburg" in "Search" for a lot of info on campgrounds in that area. Don't know if a pool would do you much good this time of year in that area.

KOA in Harpers Ferry right at the entrance to the park

Gettysburg has at least a half a dozen campgrounds within 15 mins of the battlefield.

Sorry, should have specified I'm looking for next summer, not now! Guess I wasn't clear what I was looking for-I meant somewhere between the 2 that would be somewhat equidistant from all of them. Somewhere around Frederick, MD, maybe.

No CG suggestions, but don't forget to check Antietam (sp?). I just got back from MD and visited that battlefield. Great presentation by a Park Ranger upstairs in the observatory area of the main building.

Can't think of any cgs near Frederick. Nat and state parks at Thurmont would be centrally located but not full hook-up. Koa and Yogi in Williamsport, MD would be close to Antietam and within an hour of Harpers Ferry. Probably a little over an hour to Gettysburg and about the same to Manassas. For FHU, I'd choose a cg in G-burg and day-trip to Harpers ferry. Sorry, I'm not familiar with the Manassas area. FWIW i'd suggest a visit to Antietam as did the above poster. Gettysburg is a wonderful place with many attractions but Antietam is "just" a battlefield with no commercial developement. Quite a contrast.

Crowe,

There is no CGs arounf Fredrick.

Since you mentioned going next year, you might want to think about attendting the Gettysburg Battle Re-enactment. We went there a couple of years ago and it was pretty interesting.

I would say that if you wanted to stay around winchester VA you would be about 40 mins to Manassas if you go after rush but if not that is about where the traffic starts to build. You are about 45 mins to Harpers Ferry too. It is slightly more than an hour to Gettysburg but not too much. I would look and see if there is a CG on US 15 near 66 but I think it is a membership CG. It would be alot closer for you but from Winchester you can get to antietem too.

Hagerstown is an option as quoted above. Hagerstown is a bit far from Manasas. You could consider Candy Hill campground in Winchester,VA. Sort of central to all 3 areas.
