A 3 stage converter will automatically switch to the "float" stage when the batts are fully charged. This "float" stage will keep them charged without overcharging or 'boiling' them. Confirm what type of converter you have...and welcome to the Forum. Batteries are over 7 years old now and still OK. We have a Xantrex 2000 watt inverter and use the built in three stage charger.
