I laughed at them for years, it just didn't make any sense to me. Then my new Cedar Creek came with one. In fact when the salesman pointed it out to me I commented on another useless accessory. Then one day I gave it a try and was hooked. It cleans as good as my upright did, removes pet hair and the little door near the entrance is pretty cool. Just sweep a pile of dirt near it, open the door and it is gone. I think they call it the "Magic Broom" or something like that. Also as NC hauler said I can pull the truck up and clean it also.
Is it a necessity? No. Is it useful? Yes.

Seems I am in the minority. Our 2009 Montana came equipped with the central vac. Sure it picks up great. However, I find it very heavy and burdensome. I can not drag the heavy hose to the bedroom area. I also have difficulty in the living area. Understand, I am a relatively strong 65 yr old woman in good shape.
Recently we moved our lightweight upright back into the fiver for me to use. Hubby will use the central vac for the heavier cleaning. (Or maybe I am just SMART, getting him to vac???).

We have the dirt devil & it is very powerful. It reaches the whole trailer. I love it and think it is more convenient than carrying around a vacuum. I would highly recommend it!! My husband has also vacuumed his truck with it too.

We have the Dirt Devil in our unit. I think that we would both say that its not something that we would have ordered/added ourselves but it was already there. It looked so small in the basement that I thought it must be a toy and doubted that it had any real suction.
Well, it turned out to be a great thing to have, especially on longer trips when cleanups are needed on the road. Its great for both the hardwood floor and the carpet areas. The hose and attachements go under the stair right where the outlet is, so its pretty handy and the hose reaches the far ends of the trailer.
Now we don't have to haul the old Kenmore down to the trailer to cleanup between trips.
It'll be a standard feature in all our future units.

We have the Dirt Devil central vacccum but rarely use it. We have two Shelties an and our Dyson Animal picks up the hair much better. The only thing we use it for is to vaccum the truck.

I have a 39' fiver with a Dirt Devil and its awesome. The trailer is long but one hose will reach all points in the RV including going outside and cleaning the basement if need be. I'm guessing they are pretty much the same but mine not only has the hose but a built in floor sweep so if you use a broom, you just kick open the hatch and sweep everything in there. Works great.

Ditto! I installed the Dirt Devil system myself. I tore apart my steps and made hinged storage for the attachments. My wife loves this thing. She uses it every trip. I did install the vac-pan but my wife seldom even takes out a broom. She uses the vac to clean the hard floors as well.

I have a 2009 Montana equiped with the Central vac and its nice because it doesn't take much room to store away and it helps keep the dirt to minimum while camping with my nieces. However we do use our house vac once we get the trailer back home cause it has a beater bar on it.
