I use a white hose to supply water to the trailer. Coming from the campground tap, the water tastes fine. White (drinking water safe) hose is suppose to have less of that hose taste - but it still tastes aweful coming out of that hose. I stuck an in-line water filter on the input connection, but I don't think it can handle the volume - it still tastes bad. Inside the trailer, I have added a separate drinking water faucet (with filter), and the water tastes fine coming out of that. But I'd much rather get rid of it at the source. Are there verations on hoses, with respect to that hose taste? I was thinking of making my own campground connection hose from black polyethylene flexible pipe (the same stuff that they run to the water taps at the campground spigots). It't a bit too rigid for that purpoe, but if that is the only way, I'd do it.

I suspect a cheap hose.. maybe a Walmart one. Get thee to an RV store and get a decent one. They don't taste like hose UNLESS it's sitting in the sun and you drink water from the first bit that comes in.

Most water lines inside the trailer are plastic. Some campgrounds that we have stayed in truck their water in and store it in a plastic tank. Depending on how long it sits in the tank, the taste may be affected.

We always bring drinking water from home in a jug and only use 'trailer water' for showers, toilet, and washing.

I would also try a new hose, different brand. I have 2 white hoses of different lengths, one from an RV store, the other from Walmart. Neither one puts the "hose" taste in the water.

The only way to completely eliminate the plastic taste is to install a good water filtration system. check out the whole house filters at PUR. they filter both your fresh water tank AND the pressure water coming into the RV and ALL water is sweet and pure tasting.

We don't even try it. We use the onboard tank for non-drinking purposes if we aren't hooked to water and carry a 2 gal. container for drinking. Then, we also don't have to worry about the purity of the water from the tank.

We use a undersink single stage filter with seperate faucet tapped into the cold water line for drinking water, that way we only have to filter the water we want to drink and don't worry about filtering the toilet/shower/sink water. We have stayed places where you would think the water would be good and it was terrible. Our white hose is a cheap one, but it does not impart any additional taste to the water.

Interesting. My Walmart drinking water hose (ironically, the same brand sold at rv stores) doesn't have the slightest funny taste. It did have a lower price, however.

We use water bottles for drinking and a 2 gallon or 7 gallon container, depending on the trip, for brushing our teeth, coffee, cooking etc. We just feel more comfortable knowing where our water is coming from.
