Saw the Lip sheet and will get some oil and give it a try. This procedure makes more sense to me than the battery because the slides have been working with no problems on shore power since 2007. I will not be fooling around with the slide that is retracted untill next May as it is too cold in my part of the country.I still got to bring the big slide in.I will lube it before I try even though I have no problems with it. Is it okay to use the slides the odd weekend when they are retracted.

if it works w/o a batt, i'll be surprized but hope it does. if it should, would suggest you run it in/out a little and re apply. also probably wouldn't hurt to squirt the 2nd slide-may soak in over winter and retard any further rusting. may want to give the rear roller axels a shot too.
personally i try not to use mine while they are in-the way mine retract they are not solidly on the floor-kinda in the air a little and when stepped on they move. just doesn't seem like a good idea to me. some do, some don't and i perfer not to.

Think I read somewhere in my books that it requires a fully charged battery. It only makes sense that it works thru the battery since it is designed to be operated without shore power. Shore power only charges the battery, and operates the 120v lights in the TT.

We use shore power all the time also, but the slides need a fully charged battery to operate per our Keystone Sprinter manual. Has something to do with that converter on the picture LarryJM posted above.

I still don't understand why the battery is required. Shore power runs my furnace, air conditioner, two electric heaters, refrigerater, television and lights. What makes the slides different. As I said in an earlier post the slides have worked okay till now.

But did you have any batteries in the TT during this time?

What I don't understand is this trailer has never had a battery and the slides have always worked. On the Keystone website it said that you may need the battery to operate the slides.I still think something is out of wack causing the slide to bind because the slide motor is still working.

I'm sure this is probably not the answer, but I've discovered something quirkly on our Rockwood. If my wife and I are standing in the kitchen near the slide out control switch, it won't slide out. One night we were bringing the slide in so I went out to look underneath and when the wife tried it it worked right away. Then that happened a second time during pack up. May be coincidence but thought I'd mention it. All I can think of is out combined weight which is not a lot is causing the gears not to catch.
Good luck, Fayne
