I see that most RVs come with the Oman generator. Mine came with the Guardian by Generac. Is there a big difference between the two makes? Is one considered better than the other?

Generac's, in my experience, are lower quality and much noisier. We have a PowerTech and it's a little more noisy under low or no power than an Onan, under half or full power it's quieter. The reason being is the Onan (at least most are) is variable speed (1800 to 3600 rpm) our PT is 1800 rpm under no load or full load.
The one Generac we had was a propane, air cooled unit, very loud and overheated in 95° weather under load. In 5 days we went through two 10 gallon tanks and most of our onboard 40 (32 usable) tank. Never again will I have a propane unit in a MH.
Is the Guardian a propane unit? Need the model number to get more info for you or you could go to the Generac site.

I'll run over to storage later and take a look at the model. I assume generac makes it. It says Guardian on it but couldn't find any info on a Guardian generator.

I wouldn't worry about it.
I doubt that you are planning to replace it!
When you trade up to a better/newer MH you can research and be sure to get a MH with the best Genset.
However for me, the more important thing is a MH with the floorplan that best serves my needs and life style.

Generac make Guardian.
Generac's reputation has gotten so bad they have come up with a new name to sell under.
Onan being the golden standard of RV gensets, generac being the other end.

Why are Generacs bad? Aren't they the #1 selling generator in the home market?
I sell generators (Generac, Briggs, and Kohler). I have people who swear off Briggs because they had a problem with a lawn mower 50 years ago. So they buy a Generac. IMO, the Briggs is way better.
Frickin' dinosaurs.
Let's rethink this whole "I hope I die before I get old" thing.

Anything is better than a generac.
#1? Marketing hype and that they are priced lower than everybody else. They are priced lower because they take shortcuts building them out of the cheapest material possible and then do their best in denying any and all warranty claims.

Hmm. Sounds like bitterness. How about backing that up with facts? If Generac is so bad, why are they installed in thousands of businesses as well as hospitals, police stations, 911 centers, etc.
How many warranty issues have you had to deal with Generac on? I am guessing not as many as I have. I have not had any issues dealing with them on warranty claims.
I have personally been involved with over 200 installations of Generac generators, not just 1.

Onan being the golden standard of RV gensets, generac being the other end. There are far more PowerTech generators in high end yachts than Onan's, so does that make Power Tech's the Platinum standard?
