Here at TMS, there's a bunch of price points for camping. The lowest, where I camp, is the unreserved(first come, first serve) camping lots, they are only $75 for the weekend. The reserved spots are $250-300 for the weekend. Then there is the paved high dollar lot, then infield, then the latest, backside motorhome row where it costs $15K for the season. yikes! but you do get 10 tickets for that price. ooh boy...

Nascar used to be a regional sport and many of us wished it had stayed that way. All of the snide comments and prejudicial statements from our northern cousins has a lot to do with the way we perceive you too. Going national only forced us "hillbillies" out so the millionaire crowd could take it over and screw it up. The reason it is now losing fans is because all their "new fans" they made all over the country were just jumping in on the latest fad like always. We much preffered it when ingenious people found new and better ways to make their car go faster and longer than the other guy, we called that "racin", what we have now is a choregraphed show!

I wouldn't pay that much even if they threw in premium beer, aged steaks, free fuel and had beautiful scantily clad girls waxing my coach around the clock. I avoid establishments which follow this greedy practice during or after such events and do not endorse their locations. Stepping down now.....

We go the race every year, but never stay in the track rv park. We start by staying at John Pennecamp State Park in Key Largo and enjoy the area for 2-3 days. On Saturday we go up to Homestead to attend the Saturday race and park in the General Parking area...no charge. There always to be plenty of tickets available. We boondock Saturday night in the General Parking area, then attend the Sunday race, boondock Sunday night and leave early Monday morning. So far. never had any problems.

NASCAR is shortly going to be a thing of the past. Sure there might be a lot all night parties and fee food but there are also a lot of drunken slobs. Almost like being in Texas. I've heard some of the larger tracks charge $1000+ for the weekend and if you want a good spot, you have to be there a week in advance with an extra charge.
A 69 Daytona that Bobby Allison drove only cost less than $5000 off the showroom floor. If you want a regular run of the mill street Monty Carlo with just a $1.50 Dale Earhardt decal, you will have to pay an extra $2-3000.

Now you watch what you say about the France Follies or the WWF of Auto Racing. What kind of racing is it when those not in the chaes are told NOT to race against the top 12 cars in the chase unless they are a couple of laps down. Look for it to get even worse if Danica Patrick gets into NASCAR.

They want and get $2500 for a spot on Lake Loyd at the Daytona 500 and they sell them out every year. I know because I have been trying for several years.

As far as the cars or the racing - it's the drivers doing the racing, not the cars. The cars haven't been "stock" for decades. I follow many forms of racing, and I've raced myself for over 20 years. The guys in NASCAR are as intelligent, professional and skilled as any drivers in any series anywhere, on the whole. Yeah, you get the odd outlier, but NASCAR racing ain't bad...

It is about the driver. JPM is not there to drive with hicks. I would think some might want to actually go to a race befor they comment on NASCAR.
