My neighbor used to feed her collie a bowl of warm milk straight from the cow with a couple fresh eggs cracked into it and some dry dog food on the side. If veggies were in the garden, they got some scraps. These outside dogs each lived to 15-20 years each.
Maybe they're like some people - just don't like liver (it's an acquired taste). My cat actually eats the whole mouse. Of course, my kids eat liver so the cat has to eat his too.

when it comes to liver, I think animals are smarter than some humans! When you think of what the livers purpose is (cleans the blood of all the junk) and then people PURPOSELY eat it...UGGGH! disgusting in my opinion!
http://www.mamashealth.com/organs/liver.asp
The liver has many functions. Some of the functions are: to produce substances that break down fats, convert glucose to glycogen, produce urea (the main substance of urine), make certain amino acids (the building blocks of proteins), filter harmful substances from the blood (such as alcohol), storage of vitamins and minerals (vitamins A, D, K and B12) and maintain a proper level or glucose in the blood. The liver is also responsible for producing cholesterol. It produces about 80% of the cholesterol in your body.
Back to the OP: here we go again - as with all theories - if you poll 100 people here on the best diet for your pet, I'm sure we will have 100 different responses. What works for one, may not work for another. Some feed 100% human food, some feed 100% store bought pet food, some a mixture of both with the percentages varying. Who can say what is the correct mixture?
If your pet does well with what you are feeding - kudos to you. I know my pets do well with what we feed them.

It also doesn't contain apple leaves, stems or seeds!

Walter, I think you are wrong.
Surely your food is at least three times better than any other. Maybe four times, even. Gotta be. No doubt in my mind.
Wait a minute ... your dog likes to suck on rocks!
let's see ...
okay, just checked the list. Rocks apparently aren't toxic for dogs. Who knew, huh?

Sue, you should be careful; rocks can be toxic, like cinnabar and realgar.
