Just picked up our "new" to us, camper. The fridge doesn't seem to work. Now, with the gas turned off, on AC power, the power light is lit and I hear some clicking, but after a while the Check light goes on and it doesn't cool. The area between the freezer and fridge is also warm. Any ideas? It's a Dometic RM2852.

It will take several several hours to cool. If you are trying to run on gas you will need to bleed the gas line by runnung the gas stove a few minutes.

Have you tested it on propane? If not, that is the next thing to try as it will help to narrow things down. The service manual, from Bryant RV, lists the following under "check light on:"
Quote:

DC Volts
Wiring
LP Gas
Manual Gas Valve
Solenoid
Orifice
Burner
Thermocouple
Lower circuit Board

Also, the area between the fridge, freezer being warm, it is a switch that keeps humidity from being a problem at the door seals, if the switch is on, it will be warm, but ....on 12 volt ............ it will eat up your power.

Your choice.

If you're hearing the spark unit fire AND/OR getting a CHECK light your fridge is trying to run on LP mode not electric. There is nothing to ignite with the spark unit and no check light involved in electric operation. Check again and make sure that it's properly SET to use AC power then check the outlet into which it's plugged (in the service panel accessed from outside) to make sure it has 120 volt power. Good luck / skip

1. WHY is the LP off?
2. That clicking sound is the refer trying to light on LP, which it will NOT, because you have the LP turned OFF.
3. The refer IF on Auto, should go straight to 120 volt. If NOT, then open up the outside access door and check the 120 volt plug receptacle and verify you have 120 volts there. If you do, then there is a malfunction on the refer control board. (120 volt fuse or defective board)
4. The "Check" lite just shows you that it did NOT light on LP and to find the problem of why it did not light on LP. That is the only function of the check light.
5. There is NO heater between the lower and upper refer doors on a Dometic
6. I assume you have no operators manual. Doug

Thanks for your help. It seems there is a problem; probably with the board. It has power and the fuses are good but it won't run on either LP or AC. My unit falls under the recall, so I will try and find out tomorrow if the fix has been done to it or not and go from there.

The recall has NOTHING to do with any operational problem. The recall is just a defensive flame kit. Doug

We are newbies to camping too and had the same problem. It was driving us crazy. We could run on electric but not on gas while we were on the road. Then suddenly one day it started working. We mentioned it to the service manager at our auto dealership who is an avid camper. He asked if we had used the gas stove just before the frig started working on gas. Yes, we had. I had heated water for tea and it "bled" the line so the gas now operates the frig with no problems. A very easy fix that we would never have thought of.
